Are you ready for Mardi Gras? If you’ve never experienced it then you’re missing out!
Mardi Gras is an experience in itself with costumes, street parties and parades. It’s a definite bucket list experience!
What is Mardi Gras –
Mardi Gras is the last Tuesday (also known ‘Fat Tuesday’) before Ash Wednesday when Lent begins. There are celebrations for weeks leading up to Fat Tuesday known as Carnival. Krewes (pronounced the same way as “crews”) are the organizations that put on parades and balls throughout Carnival season.

What To Expect
With Mardi Gras, be prepared to have a ton of fun! Everyone, from young to old, from tourist to local, is there to have a blast. In fact, most schools in New Orleans close for a week to let the students enjoy the festivities. It’s a very lively atmosphere with parades, music, floats, dancing, drinking and King Cake eating.

As the parades roll by, you can try your best to catch the throws which are usually beads, cups, stuffed animals, tote bags, glasses, hats and more.
You’ll definitely want to walk along the parade route as the street will be closed to cars, and make sure to arrive early to get a good spot! There will be crowds throughout the city but try to embrace the chaos and join in on the fun.

Laissez les bon temps rouler, as they say!

When To Go
While Fat Tuesday is the biggest day with seemingly endless parades, the entire weekend before as well as Monday, known as Lundi Gras, are filled with celebrations and parades so plan to arrive on Thursday or Friday to get the full experience.

Some of the favorite parades are Bacchus and Muses which are usually the weekend before Fat Tuesday. They have some of the best floats, costumes and throws!

What To Wear
Anything goes at Mardi Gras! Many people like to dress in costume, and you’ll see a lot of color and sequins. Remember that you’ll likely catch some wearable items too, like a funny hat, headband or pair of glasses! Just make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes that you don’t mind scuffing up a bit.

– Mardi Gras Essentials –
Foldable Tote Bag: When you catch beads and all things Mardi Gras you’ll have something to put them in.
F***y Pack or Crossbody Purse: It’s really nice to have all your valuables on your waist so that you can go hands free to catch those beads.
Rain Jacket or Umbrella: In case of rain, it’s always handy to pack one of these and save your costume from getting soaked.
Comfy Shoes: Grab your comfy shoes and be prepared to be on your feet all day.
Tissues and Hand Sanitizer: These are always handy to have in case you need to run into a bar bathroom or porta-potty.
Portable Charger: This is so important if you plan to be out all day and using your phone for photos, calling friends, etc. You don’t want to end up with a dead phone battery!
Advil and Liquid IV: All those sugary drinks can often lead to headaches. And make sure to stay hydrated — I like to keep a Liquid IV in my purse at all times!
Wigs or Head Bands: Looking for a fun way to spruce up your costume? Adding a wig or headpiece is always a fun and easy way to dress up!
Now you’re ready to roll! Laissez les bon temps rouler, as they say! Message me for details!!!💜💚💛🖤

Santorini is a cloud-like oasis that envelops travelers in an ethereal fantasy, so it's no surprise it's a popular choice among newlyweds looking for a picture-perfect honeymoon destination. The romance of the island pretty much sells itself; wandering the hilly, weathered streets, you're surrounded by bright white walls and blue roofs, and in the evenings you have front-row seats to incredible sunsets. Valentines Day is right around the corner. While a home-cooked meal by candlelight or candy hearts by the handful are tried-and-true classics, if you’re looking for a Valentine’s Day idea that really shines this year, think about booking a plane ticket instead of a restaurant reservation.

Traveling with your partner not only provides an opportunity to experience new places and cultures together, but also to discover new sides of yourself and your sweetheart. Let me help you with that. Here are some beautiful locations you won’t go wrong with.

Build Your Spiritual Bond in Bali, Indonesia

The jungles and beaches of Bali are rife with opportunities for you and your partner to deepen your spiritual connection. Bonaire

Bonaire is another small island in the southern Caribbean. Bonaire is about 23 miles long by about 5 miles wide.

Bonaire is heaven to water sports enthusiasts. Due to its reef-lined coast, snorkeling, and scuba diving are extremely popular. Swimming, sailing, kiteboarding, and windsurfing are other key reasons people visit the island.

Bonaire’s seawater is distilled and purified to become one of the purest drinking waters in the world. How awesome, another island where you can drink the water.

The flamingo is the island’s signature bird. The island is proud to be home to one of the only Flamingo breeding sites in the Southern Caribbean – The Flamingo Reserve.

Fun Fact: Did you know flamingos get their pink color because of a diet rich in alpha and beta carotenoid pigments found in algae and insects?

Awesome Beaches In Bonaire
Bonaire and sister island, Klein Bonaire, are host to over 22 beaches. Some are soft white powdery sand and others are coarser and darker sand due to the reefs and crushed seashells. Here are 5 top picks:

No Name Beach resides on the uninhabited sister island Klein Bonaire so you need to take a water taxi to get there. This island is the epitome of a fantasy beach with its white, gorgeous sand and gently lapping waves. Resting on a coral reef, No Name Beach is ideal for snorkeling.

Chachacha is a popular beach location for families. It’s located near Bonaire’s southern cruise dock. The beach is calm enough for children. I also chose this beach for the name. How fun is “Chachacha”!

Te Amo Beach is a public beach near the airport. The sandy shoreline makes it a breeze to access the water. This too is a popular snorkeling site.

Bachelor’s Beach is a very small beach located at the bottom of a cool 10′ cliff. This is another great site for snorkeling and diving.

Pink Beach is appropriately named given that the beach is home to millions of tiny bright pink sea creatures called foraminifera. The sandy area is rather narrow but still a great spot to soak up the sun.

Happy New Year Travelers! It’s time to get that passport ready. Who’s ready to travel and where would you like to go? This week I’ll post some new travel destinations for you. If you’re interested let’s book it. First up:
Aruba

Aruba is a relatively tiny island – only 19.6 miles long and six miles across.

One of the greatest resources on this island is its people. It’s said that the Arubans have a natural sense of hospitality. They even call their home “one happy island”. Who wouldn’t want to go there?

Aruba is very ethnic rich, representing over 90 unique nationalities.

Arubans speak Dutch, Papiamento (a Spanish Creole language with admixtures of Portuguese and Dutch. Most Arubans also speak English & Spanish so no worries about communicating.

Same as many Caribbean Islands, Aruba is serious about their Carnival celebrations. In case you didn’t know, Carnival is a pre-lenten tradition consisting of elaborately colored parades, masquerades, calypso music, dancing, and lively celebrations. It’s a giant party!

Carnival celebration is a big deal to the islanders and they love to share it with visitors. Some of the celebrations take place in January, most of it in February all leading up to the big parade and burning of King Momo, the day before Ash Wednesday.

No worries about the drinking water on Aruba. Yes, you CAN drink the water! The island creates its own drinking water by desalinating seawater at the local water plant.

Makes you wonder why other countries haven’t caught onto this little trick (i.e. Mexico, Dominican?). Perhaps it’s easier for a small island. Not sure.

Of course, the island has its own prized beaches. The top ones to visit include:

*Eagle Beach has been rated one of the best beaches in the world due to its soft white sand and beautiful aquamarine water. It’s located in the island’s capital, Oranjestad. Eagle Beach is home to the most photographed fofoti tree in Aruba.

*Baby Beach is in Seroe Colorado, on the southeast end of the island. The waters are so calm it’s safe enough for small children, hear the name.

*Andicuri Beach is located on the island’s northeast coast, within the Andicuri Bay. This beach’s claim to fame is its breathtaking, scenic setting and the place to go for body-boarding.

*Dos Playa, meaning 2 beaches, is located within the Arikok National Park on the southeast part of the island. The beaches are unspoiled, remote and the perfect place, if you’re objective is natural beauty.

Surfers love Dos Playa because of the aggressive waves, but be aware the beaches may be unsuitable for inexperienced swimmers. Message me for details!!!🛩️🩱🩳👙🩴🦩🌴🏊🏼‍♀️🚣🏽‍♀️🚴🏾‍♀️🏝️

Calgary, Canada

If you're dreaming of a white Christmas in North America, then consider a Calgary family vacation. On average, the city receives about 3 inches of snow during December, which is enough to paint the city white but still allow you to partake in all the holiday festivities.

Calgary White Christmas Activities
Calgary hosts several Christmas markets. Spruce Meadows International Christmas Market is one of the largest, with over 300 vendors. Plus, kids can meet Santa's reindeer here on Sundays.

If you're traveling with little ones who want to partake in lots of festive games and activities, then head over to Heritage Park for their annual Once Upon a Christmas event. Think horse-drawn carriages, visits with Santa, scavenger hunts, crafts, and live music.

Adventurous families should check out Canada Olympic Park. It's located only 25 minutes outside of downtown Calgary. Here, you can ski and snowboard down the many slopes. Snowtubing is available, too.

Where to Stay in Calgary in Winter
The four-star Hotel Fairmont Palliser provides upscale accommodations and is centrally located in downtown Calgary. They offer a delightful, kid-friendly holiday tea, too. Message me for details!!!🛩️🎄🎁🧊⛄️❄️⛷️⛸️🏂🚈🏔️
