Willie Nelson and Mick Fleetwood are two of the names who have lent their talents and star power to a new song. The musicians came together to help raise money for a worthy cause–and also to create yet another great piece of music, which they’ve been doing for decades now.

Singer-songwriter Lily Meola recruited both Nelson and Fleetwood for her new song “Hope in the Ashes.” The collaborative cut was released on Friday (April 12) everywhere music can be streamed or purchased.

Meola co-wrote the tune in an effort to raise money for her home state of Hawaii. The island of Maui is still picking up the pieces after wildfires burned through countless homes and businesses in the summer of 2023. Over 100 people lost their lives, and the cost of the damage is well into the billions of dollars.

Nelson, Fleetwood, and Meola are joined by other well-known musicians on “Hope in the Ashes,” which turned out to be a very high-profile track. Nelson’s son Lukas, who has a successful music career of his own, is also featured on the tune. Fellow musicians Paula Fuga and ukulele player Jake Shimabukuro are on the track as well.

Kauai experienced some very heavy rains last night. There are road closures and a brown water advisory issued for the island.

A has been issued for the Island of Kaua‘i.

The advises beach users to stay out of waters that appear brown or murky, especially following heavy rainfall.

Hanauma Bay, located on Oahu's southeastern shore, is a geological marvel formed by a volcanic explosion approximately 32,000 years ago. Once a favorite fishing and recreation spot for Hawaiian royalty, it became a marine life conservation area in 1967. The bay's rich history includes its role as a volcanic crater, cultural significance for native Hawaiians, and transformation into a protected marine environment due to increasing visitor impact. Renowned for its biodiversity and coral reefs, Hanauma Bay continues to be a popular destination for snorkeling and environmental education, providing a unique blend of geological history and marine conservation efforts.

Hanauma Bay is open to visitors from Wednesday through Sunday.
