Enjoy the final days of summer by relaxing poolside (yes, it’s heated...and it’s salt water!) at a beautiful estate in Tualatin, Oregon. The afternoon activities have been curated to focus on self-care, rejuvenation, and community building. Our itinerary is intentionally flexible to cater your social battery level that day—you can participate in as many or as few of our unique activities...or, if you prefer, relax poolside with your favorite magazines or book.

🌲🧘🏻♀️☕️ we love starting Saturday mornings reading the work of Yung Pueblo. inward is the first book in a highly impactful trilogy.
Salt+Grit is solving for fear with FUN!
At our Packwood, WA retreat (Mt. Rainier and Goat Rocks Wilderness) we trekked up to Glacier Lake and surprised guests with a storytelling and symbolism workshop. We pitched a floorless tent, put down a tarp, handed out foam pads (for our bottoms) and utilized natural stone beads for personalized bracelet making. Of course we also brewed up coffee and served cookies, because that’s just how we do things ☕️🍪🌲
We used aquamarine, white lava, petrified wood, and river rock. I assigned specific metaphors to each bead and we used them to develop personal stories surrounding fear and our ability to explore (and act on!) the possible—aka a life that is best suited for YOU!

In 2020 I let myself walk a new path... one that led me 2,300 miles across the US and into Mexico. I spent several months at a refugee shelter in Nogales. I was determined to help those in need, wherever it was needed...and I wasn't asking for permission. I did this alone. There was no formal program. I just went.
I've continued walking new paths ever since. They require a lot of brave, an ability to listen and trust my intuition, and courage to embrace change. I invite you to do the same. You never know where your path might lead.

Poem: An excerpt from The Way Forward by Yung Pueblo. This book is pure inspiration. We love to include it as part of our gift at Salt+Grit retreats. It helps guide discussions around self-exploration and change. Our community loves it and we highly recommend it.
Somehow along the way we lost our innate ability to imagine the possible.
Remember when you were a kid and there were moments (hopefully in abundance) where you felt like you could do anything. When everything was possible and the answer ‘no’ given to you by an adult was followed by your insistent ‘but why?’ When we were young our imaginations ignited effortlessly, and we intuitively let our minds wander upon ideas, creations, curiosities, and the unknown. We were certain all of our dreams were in the realm of possibility. And then we grew up.
Before we even realized it happened, we began associating the concept of change—aka doing anything outside of the imaginary box we’ve put ourselves in—with fear.
Before you begin to think this is topic is too anxiety inducing to even read about, hold tight. I have great news for you.
Salt+Grit is solving for fear...with FUN. Yes, the same fear people associate with change. And yes, the same FUN we associate with being a kid. In order to design a life that is best suited for you, you must dismantle your fear of change...starting with the fear of even thinking about change as a concept. I’ve learned first hand from people sharing their stories with me that people feel frozen by the concept of change. So much so they won’t even let themselves imagine the possible.
Through five simple and empowering guiding principles, Salt+Grit is designing experiences to help people like you embrace the concept of change and self-innovation, and dismantle the association of fear.
Exploration. Imagination. Play. Discovery. Trust.
When put into action, these words are essential tools for self-innovation…and for change. With a little practice and a lot of fun, we can begin to explore the possible… and maybe even trust ourselves enough to believe we can turn it into reality.

Is it easy? Not always, but it starts with actively listening to it. This doesn’t mean you have to act on what it tells you…that is very scary for some people (at first!). But you can always practice listening and sitting with the information…and little by little you’ll find YOUR brave and begin to take a step or two into the unknown. A place that speaks to you, only YOU. And soon accessing and listening to your intuition— and letting it guide you— becomes easier. ☀️🌲
