Happy 16th Anniversary to our Peruvian Wonder! On July 7, 2007, Machu Picchu Historic Sanctuary was recognized as one of the New Wonders of the World. Every year on the anniversary, various celebrations and events are held to commemorate this special recognition such as a mass in the district chapel, the staging of an Inca ritual of gratitude around noon, and colorful parades around the Manco Cápac square. It's an opportunity to highlight the greatness of Machu Picchu and its influence on Peruvian history and culture!
