We love special places. More than the place itself, we love the people connected to the places—a parent, a grandparent, a good friend—and an ordinary house or place of memory becomes special. When the sons of Korah longed for the sacred courts of the Lord, their deeper longing pointed to God who dwelt there. In contrast to all other great places, "a day in Your courts is better than a thousand outside" (Psalm 84:10). Why? Because God remains a better source of trust than anything else.

Visiting Jerusalem's Temple Mount today still represents sacred space, and not because of the golden shrine. We remember the One in whom we trust, the Lord Jesus, walked here—and will again someday.
