Picture this 🙌. It’s a beautiful winter day on Clear Lake. The water stretches out before you like glass, creating ripples on the mirrored surface as you paddle. A largemouth bass jumps off the bow of your boat, and a bald eagle is circling lazily overhead looking for its next meal. Deep peace settles over you as you breathe in the crisp cold air, and admire the purple hues stretching over the distant Mayacamas.

Nature’s wild beauty, and so much more, await your next visit to Lake County, California. Plan your adventure today: https://lakecounty.com (link in bio).

Bravo to our small but mighty Peace and Plenty Farm, CA in Kelseyville, who was recently featured in this The New York Times article, “How Saffron, a Precious Import, Became an American Cash Crop,” penned by journalist Jane Black.

Owner/farmers Melinda Price & Simon Avery are “part of a resurgence of interest in growing saffron among American small farmers in search of a cash crop, and among cooks and backyard gardeners seeking the thrill of growing the spice.”

Considered one of the world’s most precious spices, Peace & Plenty farm sells their locally grown organic saffron in saffron-infused honey, herbal tea, and of course, the traditional saffron threads used to flavor paella, tagines, and baked goods.

Their on-site Farmstand is open Winter Hours:
Wednesday – Sunday, 10am till dusk. Order Online at https://peaceplentyfarm.com/collections

Are you a budding Lake County restauranteur or in the hospitality sector? SAVE THE DATE (January 27, 2025) for the 3rd annual Lake County Restaurant Expo sponsored by Lake County Economic Development Corporation. This one-day training and networking event is focused on providing expert support to new and existing owners of restaurants, food trucks, catering companies, and other food industry businesses. Lots of great information and resources for local entrepreneurs.

Third Annual Lake County Restaurant Expo

The Restaurant Expo is a one-day training and networking event focused on providing expert support to new and existing owners of restaurants, food trucks, catering companies, and other food industry businesses, presented by the Lake County Economic Development Corporation (Lake EDC).

To learn more about the Restaurant Expo and networking event or to sign up to attend, visit lakecountycaedc.org/restaurant2025/.

Lake County food industry business owners and their staff are invited to attend the Expo on January 27, at the Lake County Campus of Woodland Community College. The event will start with registration and a no-host lunch at noon, sessions will begin at 1:00 pm and conclude with a networking mixer at 5:00 pm.

Food industry business owners, managers, chefs, and staff will be treated to presentations from industry experts. Maria Martinson from Testa Ranch in Redwood Valley will share her inspirational story of her family’s business transitions from grape growing to winemaking to opening a coffee shop, restaurant, and antique store. Participants will learn about local culinary and hospitality training opportunities and how to engage with millennials and Gen Z customers, and a representative from US Foods will discuss how popularity and profitability are not the same thing, and how businesses should be working towards both.

Additional sessions will include changes in regulations presented by Lake County Environmental Health, how to start your own food industry business, and industry experts will explain how to make the most of Restaurant Week, and more.
After the classroom and kitchen event, Lake EDC will host a networking event for participants to mingle and network with presenters and industry collaborators.
In addition, the third annual Lake County Restaurant Week will span the week of February 24th to March 2nd. Restaurants from every corner of the County will participate to show off their best dishes and try new recipes.

This event is generously sponsored by Sutter Lakeside Hospital.

Tickets are unnecessary for this delectable, discounted dining week, but reservations are recommended!
