Poteet Strawberry Festival. The Poteet Strawberry Festival takes place April 11th – April 13th and attracts about 100,000 attendees every year. April is work zone safety awareness month. We encourage you to watch out for road crews, workers, and heavy equipment that may be only a few feet away from passing vehicles. The key message is for drivers to use extra caution in work zones as many times protective gear on crew members is limited to a vest, hard hat, and safety boots. It’s wildflower season again! Time to get your camera ready for some fantastic shots of nature’s beauty. Remember to follow basic guidelines when you take your pictures. Avoid spots along the highway or busy roads with heavy traffic. Be careful where you place your subjects. It is common to encounter stinging or biting insects such as wasps, bees, and fire ants. Don't trespass on private property. Try to sit in front of the flowers so that you don’t hurt them. Take a map just in case you are in a low cell phone coverage area.
