We are going up to Silver City to meet with a hotel operator that says her old hotel is very haunted, stay tuned. Erin will get some great pics and we’ll see if she picks up on anything because she is sensitive to this. Thankfully I’m not!

Am I doing this right? Killing my arms at the gym and then doing this? Anyway, at the Hacienda De Mesilla, the very cool, layed back bartender, was sharing, (Melissa, ) some very strange happenings at the hotel.
She said she was working the bar the other night , and in front of a bar filled with guests , bottles just started sliding off the area pictured. Everyone was kinda freaked out . Then on the opposite side, some of her glasses started to do the same thing while everyone watched!
Her friend that works the front said the other day she saw a “old cowboy looking “ guy up near the front door and asked him ,” can I help you sir?” , and he disappears in front of her. Come out and visit!

Southwest Expeditions Hosts Events At Caballo Lake

This past Saturday evening, June 1, Southwest Expeditions, a company that has been working out of Las Cruces for several years to bring unique experiences to their guests, hosted their Celestial Evening event.

Paying guests were able to make their choice of kayak or canoe and paddle on the lake. Guests received instruction from trained kayak and canoe guides, the boats and guests received glowsticks, so the group was easy to find in the fading light.

As the guests paddled out onto Caballo Lake, they were not just enjoying the serenity of the surroundings. Their kayak guide, Alex Mares, weaved a captivating narrative, sharing traditional Native American stories. He even enlightened everyone on life-saving measures, teaching them how to find north, even in a sky with no sun or moon to guide them, adding a unique educational aspect to the experience.

Kayak Guide and Pilates instructor Alexis Waldrop led the group in light stretches before and after the paddling trip, which certainly helped newbies to the sport avoid sore muscles the next day. Other kayak guides, such as Dr. Ron Lautenbach, kept the group together on the water and checked in with the paddlers.

While the group was getting a workout on the water, General Manager of Southwest Expeditions LLC and camp host Erin Chenoweth grilled up a light meal of grilled shrimp and vegetable skewers. The meal was prepared by their own private chef and featured delicious sauces such as balsamic reduction and a parmesan sage cream sauce, which was fantastic. They also offered several types of non-alcoholic drinks, as well as three types of wine, to be enjoyed at their campsite where they set up chairs and a fire pit.

The guests relaxed and chowed down while Alex Mares explained more about the night sky and our lovely area. He also told Native American stories from his tribe and pointed out constellations with a laser pointer. It was obvious that all the guides involved wanted each guest to have a wonderful experience. They catered to the guests well, and once the meal was finished, decadent miniature blueberry and lemon custard tarts were passed out to the guests. This paired beautifully with the white wine being served.

We had a fun time down at Caballo last night. We did another Celestial Evening program with the kayaking and dinner on the shore while the guests listened to our Navajo guide weave his people’s stories of creation.

Well the group started out with four paranormal investigators but one left shorty after getting started. She waited out in the car. Understandable!
I was showing this group how the heavy metal jail doors sound when we have heard them slam, and each time I slammed the hallway cell door in the jail, heard a man’s gruff voice grunt or yell, like someone was pi**ed we were making that noise. The voice sounded like it came from the women section of of jail. The third time I slammed the cell door, a manakin lantern started up further down the hallway . You have to touch it or walk past it to get it to activate. I honestly thought it’s batteries had died long ago. We haven’t heard it for a while. I guess they just didn’t like the noise, although we just had a party of 10 kids and adults playing laser tag in there this afternoon. It never went off then.

I was invited by the Chiricahua /Warm Springs Apache tribe to go out to hike/ explore Providence Rock out near Deming, part of their ancestral homelands. Wonderful morning, perfect for a morning hike! We are excited that the Chiricahua are relocating back into their southern homelands again. Proud to know them, welcome back!
