Drivers: There is no rule that you have to like cyclists but you do have to share the road with them.

30 seconds of your day is not worth changing someone else’s life forever.

Check out YRP.ca/BikeSafety for more tips and safety info for cyclists and drivers.

I once asked a particularly angry motorist (a friend) why they were so mad about cyclists using the roadway. Their response, “I’m afraid of hitting them (cyclist).” More info in comments.

From "get on the sidewalk" to "buy a car" - we've heard it all. Here are eight things all cyclists are sick of hearing from rude motorists.

I’m more comfortable as a vehicular cyclist but understand others discomfort. I want infrastructure that encourages a variety of people to use bicycles for travel and transportation. 🚴🏾‍♂️

Discover what a "vehicular cyclist" is, John Forester's vehicular cycling principles and the arguments for and against this theory of cycling.

And say “Hello, how are you doing?” when you see a cyclist stopped on the side of the road. An open ended question is better than assuming they need help. 🙂

Join us for the eighteenth annual Ride of Silence, Mesilla. We'll take an 8-10 mile silent ride around the valley. Some may choose to do a silent 1-mile walk around the historic Town of Mesilla. We will be on city streets and roads. Helmets are required to ride.

This ride is NOT recommended for children under 12, unless on a trailer or tandem.

Gather at 6:15pm. Depart at 6:30pm sharp.

WeedSac 140 (or less) Registration Information

May 19-21

We’ve got about 45 spots available. First come, first served.

To register:
Follow these directions carefully.

Send a postcard to:
P.O. Box 2111
Las Cruces NM 88004

Please include your name and email address. Write legibly if possible or have your Mom help you.

If you’re in, you’ll get an an email confirmation that’ll include all the details. Because we know you’re anxious, that’s ok, feel free to message us to be sure we got your postcard.

The Route:
140 miles of forested hills through the Sacramento Mountains on well maintained gravel. There’s a few miles of bumpy bouncy to connect the good stuff. It’s an amazing ride.

Shorter options are available too. 50, 80, whatever you need. Let us know.

Bike Choice:
Kinda whatever you want. We’d suggest 45mm tires or bigger. Since this isn’t a race why not bring big meats and be comfortable?

Gear it low if you’re running one gear. Think gear inches in the mid to low 40s.

Camping:
We rented out a campground near Cloudcroft for the entire weekend. It’ll be available on May 18 for pre-ride hangs and will remain open through the morning of May 22. If your grandma wants to come chill in the forest all weekend she’s got a spot to do that.

Camping on the route is dispersed camping with no services. We’ll highlight a few spots that are better than others.

Food/Water:
Resupply points are available throughout the route and water is plentiful in creeks. Should be easy to pack light!

If you need timing chips, trophies, ridiculous registration fees, lotteries, and swag bags full of garbage to get excited about bikes then WeedSac might not be for you. This event has none of that. Our focus is on providing a fantastic route through the Lincoln National Forest and making friends. If you want to declare yourself the winner then bring candy to share, help people when they need it, and be polite in the small country stores.

It would be cool if we had a website but we don’t, so share this with anyone who you think would be interested.
