Common Myths About Using a Travel Agent/Advisor
Myth #1 “No one uses travel agents anymore.”
Travel agents sell:
51% of all flights, 87% of cruises, 81% of tours and packages, 45% of car rentals and 47% of hotels.
Myth #2 “Travel agents are a waste of time and money. I can book it myself.”
A good agent will save you time and will most likely save you money as well, because she has access to the most current sales and deals. AND she won’t charge you for her service because the vendor pays her from their advertised price.
Myth #3 “Travel agents try to overcharge me. Her quote was higher than what I found.”
Travel agents know the ins and outs of different itineraries. Even if you find one that is a little cheaper, that cheaper itinerary may come with a lot of problems. For instance, extended airport lines, unusual travel times or missing parts that are important to make your trip seamless. She will strive to provide you with the best value for your money.
If you find a better price, remember to ask lots of questions. Be sure it includes travel insurance, round trip transportation to and from the airport and what room category and flight seating sections are being quoted, resort fees, etc. Compare apples to apples. Make sure your cheaper quote is the exact same as what the travel agent is quoting to make a fair comparison!
Communicate with your agent. Let me know of any changes you wish to make in your itenerary and ask for an updated quote.
