HIGHLINE TRAIL, GLACIER PARK.
We snapped this shot of this "traffic jam" along the Highline Trail in Glacier Park. This section of the trail was built basically on the face of the cliff, so when hikers are headed in one direction, and an animal is headed in the opposite direction, there is always some decisions to be made. This time, the mountain goat decided to leave the trail and allow hikers to pass. We've personally have had mountain goats and bighorn sheep walk along side us as we leaned up against the wall of the cliff to give them as much room as possible. And yes, occasionally a grizzly will be on the trail, headed in the opposite direction of hikers. So far, from what we've researched (because it's never happened to us), no problems have ever arose from these very close encounters on this extremely popular Logan Pass hike. However, it certainly creates quite a memorable experience to say the least!!! We watched a video of a lone hiker having to hide behind a large rock on the Highline Trail as a grizzly walked by him on this cliffy area. CHUNKY GRIZZLY, YELLOWSTONE PARK.
We snapped this autumn shot of this massive male grizzly in Yellowstone Park awhile back. He was fattening up for winter, and was so "plump" that he waddled. This time of year, bears are frantically eating as much food as they possibly can before it's time for them to hibernate. The more fat they have on their bodies the better, as they will burn this fat reserve all winter long. Right now they have a constant hunger which is due to an instinctual phase known as "hyperphagia", which happens every autumn. No matter how much they eat, they're still hungry. This non-stop feeding frenzy continues until it's time to hibernate. DID YOU KNOW bears will consume up to 20,000 calories a day and gain up to 100 extra pounds during hyperphagia?

OLD FAITHFUL INN, YELLOWSTONE PARK.
We just love the halls in Old Faithful Inn. Every single piece of wood in this lodge was hand picked (from dried dead trees) by the folks who built this historic lodge during the winter of 1903-4, and it created a charm, coziness and beauty that cannot not possibly be put into words.... you just have to see it for yourself! Happy Star Wars Day, and May the 4th be with you!

It may not be the Boonta Eve Classic, but steering around obstacles on the White Rim Road (notably not located in the Outer Rim) can certainly feel like pod-racing sometimes!

When going on the White Rim Road be aware of the rules and regulations! A permit is required, carry out all of your trash, and make sure you have enough water and gas for the entire trip.

Canyonlands doesn’t have two suns like Tatooine, but dehydration can be a real Phantom Menace if you’re not careful! Don’t force your way over any obstacles and make sure you have four-wheel drive!

Learn more about the White Rim Road here: https://www.nps.gov/cany/planyourvisit/whiterimroad.htm

National Park Week is just around the corner! What's National Park Week? It's like a week for national parks.

Yes, this is happening. Now that we have that out of the way, runs from April 20 to April 28. Entrance fees will be waived on Saturday, April 20, to kick off the celebration and encourage everyone to enjoy their national parks in person. (You don't all have to go to Yellowstone. We love you Yellowstone.) With over 400 national park areas, there are parks closer than you think.

Throughout the week, parks, programs, and partners will host events and activities. Learn more at: https://www.nps.gov/subjects/npscelebrates/national-park-week.htm
