My friend Daryl had some time off from work and asked me if I wanted to go somewhere, like a roadtrip, so I responded Colombia, the country. He said, "Let's go!" and off we went ✈️ Never been to South America before. Lol

And here it is, the winning design for this year's Oktoberfest. The lucky artist, Leo Höfter, will receive 2,500 euro (about US$2825) in prize money along with loads of props. That said, I'm not really thrilled about this motif because it illustrates an empty beer tent, festival dates front and center, implying the Fest will be canceled, again. Better not be! ̈wenbräu

It's a new year with 12 months of endless possibilities in front of us, so let's put 2021 in the rear-view mirror and look ahead to an odyssey of Covid-free travel and serendipity. We can begin with the 187th Oktoberfest set in Munich, Germany. (The Fest president says he is very optimistic it will happen. Cheers to that!) The city's design students have been hard at work creating their best art to represent Oktoberfest 2022. Click the link below to see all 128 entries. One motif will be chosen by totaling votes from judges and the public. Beginning of February the winner will be announced, showered with prize money and respect. Pictured is my favorite. Back home now in Las Vegas, Nevada but a few weeks ago my friend and I took the fast train from Venice to Rome, taking 3.45 hours, costing $100/person. We booked a pocket-friendly hotel meters from Rome main train station. The next day we walked around the entire Old Town, to the Vatican, and back to the station to return to Venice. Great time, trip, experience.

Before I departed for Europe I happened across a 1-hour documentary on Netflix called "Above and Beyond" about the B-17 Damn Yankee that crashed in a Belgian field in 1943. The docu was so captivating, moving, inspiring that I promised myself I would find that field and the memorial dedicated to the plane and its crew. I did, and here are the pics.

Yesterday at Death Valley National Park, one of the hottest days ever on record, 133F+ / 56C+. My skin felt like it was on fire. My phone stopped working after 3 minutes. Badwater Basin (2nd pic) is -288 feet below sea level, the lowest - and hottest - point in North America.

Predicted to be the hottest recorded temps for Las Vegas this weekend 🔥🔥🔥 So, I'll go to Death Valley National Park today to experience the hottest temps ever for North America. Ha!
