Dave and I and our little Mae dog took a late afternoon walk down our road yesterday. We thought Shadyside Cabin looked absolutely gorgeous in the sunlight as she waited for our next guests to check in. They will have a great vacation this perfect October week. We've updated the seating and wall art in our Cottage's great room. There's more not pictured - coming soon! Gotta love that sunshine streaming in even though it's hard to photograph in all of that light. The Cottage sleeps 4, pet friendly, hot tub of course.

We had a great ride at Spotted Horse Ranch last weekend! We really like that there is no road riding, the horses are calm and know their job, the property is beautiful (and hilly), and the staff are friendly and helpful especially when matching horse and rider. Shout out to our wrangler, Sherry! Know before you go: they do not allow you to run their horses, which we think is a good, kind and safe thing. The ranch is about 15 minutes from Marsh Hollow. It will be open through November and sometimes into December, depending on weather.

Even if you don't feel ready to hike down into the Old Man's Cave gorge, there's lots to see from the A frame bridge, in the Visitors Center and along the rim trail. Make this your first stop before catching the shuttle to other Hocking Hills State Park sites such as Ash Cave and Cedar Falls.

Had a great 2 hr visit to with our grandson yesterday. He thought it was amazing and wants to go back. It's great for young children, including a soft space for babies and toddlers. Put it on your to-do list the next time you visit the Hocking Hills with kids. Logan also has very tasty places to eat and snack while you are there.

Finally got to visit the Hocking Hills Children’s Museum in Logan with our grandson. He said it was amazing, loved it all and wants to go back! Highly recommended for young children. Our grandson is 10 and found plenty to do (we spent 2 busy hours there). Keep in mind for .

Papa Dino's is a new addition to Hocking Hills pizza eateries, and it's a good one. Close to Marsh Hollow 15 min). Dine in or take out. We tried the dine in last month and were impressed with our mushroom pepperoni pie and beer selection. They sell wine, although not by the glass. We will return! We may now have too many pizza choices on this side of the county.

Hocking Hills cabins in the snow

Driving along Big Pine Rd today. Mostly cleared but icy/snowy in parts. St Rt 664 clear and dry. Our Wagner Rd plowed and treated, but still ice/snow covered. Ok with AWD. Cabin driveways would be a challenge - 4 wheel drive only!

The Ash Cave waterfall doesn't freeze every year, but it's well in its way this year. This video is from today, but we'll check back later in the month to see if it will become a real frozen waterfall. #wintervacation

Yesterday, we were checking out locations for a new footbridge near Shadyside. We discovered that some of our guests had been very busy constructing interesting structures of their own. Don't forget your creek shoes when you visit Marsh Hollow!
