It's gig thirty. I'm out at Bos Hog Wild Brewfest again this year for the kid fest portion of the event (starts at 4pm). Bring the family out to learn some circus prop skills from yours truly and then stay for the BBQ, beer, and bands.

So much happened 10 years ago. Lawrence got a circus school (celebrating our 10th year this year) and they got a new library building! Come celebrate 10 years of the Lawrence Public Library's new location with some aerial acrobatics, activities, music, and movies tonight!

Join us for an evening of entertainment while you dine at Maceli's in Downtown Lawrence Kansas. This is an 18+ event. For our all ages shows, check out our Sunday events. Every show will be different, so feel free to attend them all to see more circus!

Limited tickets are available for the dinner theater evening. Based on the ticket sales to our last few shows, we do expect this to sell out. If you are interested in attending please buy your tickets in advance.

There is one spot open in Wednesdays 5:30 aerial yoga class. If you are interested, message us for a spot. This is a great class for people getting into aerial, as well as upper level students looking to advance their flexibility and strength.

Have you ever wanted to learn aerial silks? Now is a great time to sign up because we will be reviewing all our foundations skills over the next few weeks in Monday nights silks level 1 class at 5:30pm. Also every third Sunday we will have a discounted aerial silks workshop in an attempt to make circus more accessible to more people.

Great news everyone, we are now adding custom woodwork circus gear to The Last Carnival store! First up is some performance ready parallettes. These are great for conditioning and practicing handstands and armbalancing moves. Message us to get a pair of your own.

Looking for a fun way to get in shape? Try out one of our beginner aerial fitenss classes. There are spots available in aerial silks level 1, trapeze and aerial hoop level 1, aerial yoga, and fly fitness. We have kids, teen, and adult classes.

I just posted a new stretch series to The Last Carnival's Patreon page. I'm excited to share this with everyone. This series is great for acrobats as well as people wanting to just feel a little more mobile and is part of my Flexibility for Any Body Series. So if you are wanting to loosen up your back and shoulders, check it out. Subscribing to my page with access to flexibility training is just $5/month. 10 years in the making. Back in 2013, I moved from St. Louis to Lawrence Kansas and concocted the idea to start a circus school here. After many months of prep work, in January of 2014, we opened our doors to our first students. The school has morphed and changed over the years, and all along the way, I knew this was the best decision I ever made for my career path. I get to help people find strength, joy, and community for a living.

To celebrate 10 years as a school, I decided I wanted to make circus more accessible. This was the push I needed to start The Last Carnival Acrobats Patreon Page. You can run away to the circus with us by becoming a member of our Patreon community. This gives you access to edited for your home viewing circus shows and flexibility training videos starting today! In the upcoming weeks, I will be adding more tiers so people can access multiple levels of aerial acrobatics tutorials.

But that's not all. To keep the decade of circus celebration going, I have some exciting news on how to get in more circus with live performances and more that I will be releasing information on in the upcoming weeks. Until then, I hope you all visit and share my new project.....

Single Star Drop

Any silks people that need/ want to brush up on or learn star drop theory, message me about getting into class. For the next month or two we will be deep diving into all the variations of star drops and other drops that can be done above or below this. Let's explore. This video is featuring the single star drop with wrapped arm variation. We be be doing double and triple star drops as well in classes

Smashin Smo on her German Wheel

I'd like to introduce Smashin Smo Ortiz. Smo is a certified badass who handstands on motorcycles, does flips through the air, is a circus strong woman, and generally just a daredevil. Smo is one of the most creative acrobats out there, always coming up with ways to experiment with new props and inventing never before seen acts! This Sunday April 30th in Lawrence KS, you can see her performing on her German Wheel, Doubles Trapeze, AcroChairs, and Aerial Lollipop! Today is the last day to get pre-sale tickets online. If for some reason you miss out on those you can get your tickets at the door. See you at the 🎪!

This Sunday we are welcoming to the stage Sage Ann. Sage is the most circus obsessed, hardest working 12 year old out there. She homeschools in the daytime to allow room in her schedule to train most days of the week for hours each day in dance, aerial acrobatics, contortion and hand balancing, and circus prop skills. Sage started training at The Last Carnival when she was 9 years old, and this year she got invited to be part of our professional performance troupe. Sage has since performed with us at The Great Plains Music and Arts Festival and the KC Lyric Opera Ball, amazing guests with her extreme contortion. You have heard of soccer moms, yeah? Well Sage’s mom is a circus mom. Her mom Crystal can be seen at all Sage’s shows, not just cheering her on but helping with many of the behind the scene tasks to help the show run smoothly. If you want to see the amazing things her little circus freak can do, join us in Lawrence Kansas this Sunday April 30th at 4pm for The Last Carnival Acrobats RoadShow where Sage Ann will be performing on the Trapeze, Aerial Silks, and Contortion!

It's that time to get your class spots for the March session. Registration will be officially open at the end of the week. Currently we have openings in the following: Monday 6:30pm beginner Trapeze & Aerial Hoop (2 spots left) Tuesday 5:30pm Advanced Teen Silks (1spot left, must have instructor permission to join) Wednesday 9:30am Aerial Basics (2 spots open) Wednesday 5:30pm Beginner Teen Silks (3 spots left) Wednesday 6:30pm Beginner Adult Aerial Silks (1 spot left) Thursday 5pm Kids Contortion (2 spots left) Thursday 6:15pm Teen/Adult Contortion (1 spot left) Daytime Private Lessons are also available.

Are you interested in starting you aerial acrobatics journey? There are a few class spots left at our studio. Once these are full they often stay full for months or years, so now is your chance to get in since we did a schedule shift to add a few more class options. Mondays beginner trapeze and aerial hoop class has two spots left, and for January only when you sign up you can bring a friend for free. Wednesdays beginner aerial silks has one spot open. And that same day we have a teen aerial silks class with one spot as well. Looking for a morning workout? Aerial Basics runs every Wednesday morning from 9:30-10:30am. We are also gathering interest for a new class we are offering, kids contortion. Our teen and adult class booked full immediately. For the kids class we are looking for a few more kids ages 5-12 before we get it started. Message me if your child might be interested. Contortion is absolutely something you want to train with a coach to learn how to do it safely! Hope to see you all at the circus. And just a reminder, you do not need to already be in shape to join our beginner classes. These classes help get you in shape and up in the air.

Here is a fun little hip key salto sequence for you all. Although our level 2 silks class is booked full, we still have spots in level 1 for the February session.
