If you are looking for a close walk with some great scenery, follow the dirt road directly behind Base Camp Lodge. The road will bring you to the Mickelson Trail in under a mile! Once heading north on the Mickelson Trail, there are a couple close lookout points including the Homestake Gold Mine.

What a beautiful week we have had at Basecamp Lodge. Wonderful hike on the Mick Trail, mom and Bambi in our backyard, day trip to Devil’s Tower. absolutely stunning! pictures don’t do it justice. We hiked 6.8 miles on the trails surrounding Devils Tower…. what a fabulous day! Biking to Rochford to have lunch at Moonshine Gulch Lodge today, very excited!

The Lead Country Club is only a short 8 minute drive from Base Camp Lodge. It is a 9 hole course with amazing views! If guests are traveling from far away or don’t own any golf clubs, they have some available to rent.

Base Camp Lodge has 6 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, and sleeps 21 people! It’s the perfect place to stay for a group of friends, family gathering, or even a corporate retreat.

There is plenty of warm water and excellent water pressure throughout the lodge, no mediocre showers here after a long day of exploring the Black Hills!
