Forecast for final weekend of the season on the Tieton River is for the smoke to clear and for the river to have one last bump of whitewater worthy levels.

Though WSDOT has roadblocks on either end of US 12, river recreationists are allowed to pass coming from Naches in order to raft the Tieton River. The Cold Creek Fire remains to the west of Rimrock Lake Reservoir.

Per WSDOT site as of 9/17 at 12 Noon:

"US 12 remains closed both directions over White Pass due to a forest fire and firefighting efforts. EB traffic is stopped 13 miles west of the summit near MP 138 at the jct. of US 12 / SR 123. WB traffic is stopped at MP 183, Oak Creek, two miles west of the jct. of US 12 / SR 410. Estimated time to open the highway is unknown. The road will remain closed overnight, an update will be provided Thurs. afternoon.

Tieton River trips are happening September 12th through the 20th.

As of 9/12 - smoke has thickened on the East side and may not be advisable for those who are sensitive or have health conditions.

As of 9/12 - road access is not restricted to reach the Tieton River valley.
