The Sexual Assault Resource and Counseling Center (SARCC), works together with our community to prevent sexual violence and promote healing for those who experience it. Established in 1983, SARCC provides counseling, advocacy, and community action that will prevent the perpetration of sexual violence. Our work will change the culture of the community, with an end result of having a community that

is ready to provide affirming, trauma-informed responses to sexual violence and the skills needed to promote resilience and prevent perpetration. The services provided at SARCC are no-cost, and available to community members of all ages, genders, and identities.

Look who is ready for Thanksgiving!

Pre-K and Kindergarten kiddos at Llewellyn Elementary are ready to enjoy the break and ask before they hug anyone. They learned that permission for touches should work both ways.

Today, SARCC took over the auditorium at Minersville Elementary for the Personal Body Safety Program.

This was the first year in 17 years I did a whole grade at a time, all in one day! 😊

My steps are much lower as I didn't need to spend 4 days running around to each classroom. 😔

This could not have been planned any better!

Of my two days to be at North Schuylkill Elementary this year (today and tomorrow), today was the best lunch ever!

Thanksgiving Dinner!

Don't get me wrong, it was great to present to half the school also!

Safe adults help a child to name and work with their emotions. You can do this by:

Teaching your child a broad range of words to express themselves. Instead of happy, try "excited" or "glad".
Get curious and ask questions. If your child is displaying strong emotions, ask questions to figure out what's really going on.
Modeling good behavior and setting a good example when it comes to expressing yourself and managing your own emotions.

SARCC offers Trauma Therapy to survivors and to family members affected by their loved one’s assault. Therapy is meant to be specific, goal-oriented, and based on researched practices. Our therapists offer treatment options that guide survivors through potential underlying issues, of which are often associated with trauma.

Therapists licensed with SARCC are trained in evidence-based trauma treatments, which work closely with individuals to identify how they can best heal. Some therapeutic practices we offer include EMDR, TF-CBT, IFS, DBT, and support groups.
