Couples Sans Souci is stunning (that’s the one pictured) and has beautiful garden and ocean views because it’s set on a cliff. It’s not one for those with mobility challenges, lots of steps but the views are worth it if you’re able!

I realized that I have a ton of photos on my phone that I haven’t uploaded here, so here come the photo dumps!

Last year, I went to several of the prettiest resorts I have ever seen. A gem among them is multi award winning luxury resort, Hotel Esencia.

Located between Playa del Carmen and Tulum, Mexico it’s easy to access via Cancun.

This resort caters to the discerning traveler looking for peace and relaxation on a beautiful beach. This resort is small and quiet but has enough to keep you busy if you’re more active.
This is not an all inclusive resort but has Restaraunt options onsite. I loved Mistura - not just for the food but the view is incredible.

The resort has a main house, jungle suites and the amazing Esencia Mansion for a true luxury family vacation. This new 10,000 sq ft., four-bedroom villa, with three swimming pools, just completed in 2022, was designed to be immersed in nature, with 360 degree rooftop ocean views, providing the ultimate in privacy and seclusion, yet less than a five minute walk to the beach, restaurants, spa, gym, and all hotel facilities. A helicopter landing pad and private tennis court are just a few steps away.

If you are looking for true luxury accommodations and are a fitness enthusiast this resort is a great fit (see what I did there 😉) because the wellness suites feature either a Pelaton or Mirror. Featuring a private fitness studio off the master bedroom, these suites were awarded the Wellness Star of the Year Award by Forbes Travel Guide in 2021 for their innovation in luxury wellness travel.

I absolutely fell in LOVE with the Esencia Suite, located in the main house. The main house was created by the first owner- an Italian Duchess. Featuring a master bedroom with INCREDIBLE ocean views, a domed living room, a light-drenched master bathroom with double bathtub and steam shower, a second full guest bathroom, a reading den (or second bedroom) immersed in the jungle with windows on three sides including more ocean views – and a Peloton bicycle – this grand suite offers the ultimate in indoor/outdoor living. The travel and destination wedding industry has suffered a tremendous loss.

Will Medina was a bright and beloved light that inspired so many. He was a fierce advocate for professionalism and pushed not only himself but so many travel advisors to succeed far beyond what they even expected.

Thank you, Will for the guidance and the example you set for all of us. Thank you for your humor and perseverance during COVID, which we all went to. I left a lot of the travel agent Facebook groups in 2020 to protect my own mental peace, but I always stayed in Will’s group because he did not allow any ridiculousness and only allowed professional advisors. He did not suffer fools.

I am certain that his soul is somewhere in the Caribbean now but will live on for many years with all of those he inspired.

What’s the difference between a travel Advisor and a Booking agent or travel website?

A true travel advisor is there to listen to what you want out of your vacation and help you choose the right destination. Recommendations are made based on the advisor’s personal knowledge of the locations and typical clientele at each resort. Just like clothing brands, resorts all have their own personality. If you have a pair of favorite jeans, you know that not all jeans are just jeans. Each brand has their own type of cut and design and usually a following of like minded people. Resorts and locations are this way as well. We help you get the right FIT for you, not just send you to the place that looks great online and is on sale.

We want you to enjoy a vacation that has everything you want, even if the resort brand isn’t one you’ve seen on TV or saw on an ad. We have stayed in, toured or sent clients to many, many Caribbean and Mexican resorts. We have booked bachelorette trips, destination weddings, honeymoons, baby moons, family vacations, grad trips, family reunions and more and have serviced groups as small as 8 and as large as 238 people.

If you’re just looking to book a trip and know where you want to go, yes we can help with that. But what we like to do is get to know you and help you choose the right spot. We check in with you while you’re there to make sure the vacation is going just as you’d hope and make calls if it’s not.

Thank you so much to all of my clients for flying the friendly skies again this year! I love you all and appreciate you so very much for trusting me with your trips this summer and spring! I am so thankful to be your travel advisor!

A little announcement- my family is about to embark on an adventure that will last several months. Our home is being renovated to better accommodate my husbands wheelchair and we won’t be able to live in it during renovations. Therefore, I have made the decision to only take 1-2 new trip requests per week. I will also be limiting requests to current clients or referrals through the end of 2021.

We will be living in a really fun place and want to take this rare opportunity to have as many adventures as possible. Plus, I need a mental break after this insane past 18 months!

If you’re booked with me already, Don’t worry….nothing will change, you’ll still get the same service level and before we leave, I will reach out to each of you individually and I’ll also provide a backup agent for you to contact if you can’t reach me to quickly.

Now that we are 18 months into the pandemic, what’s travel like?

This is a loaded question and it varies greatly from place to place. Overall, here is my feeling on traveling now:

Travel is different now. Don’t go in expecting a pre-pandemic type of travel. Even if your local area at home isn’t strict on masking or social distancing, tourist destinations have to take this seriously.

Be kind, be patient.

The hotels and their staff have been through a horrifically stressful year. Service levels may not be what they were before because hotels had to make cuts to survive. Carefree servers and bartenders are no longer carefree, they are stressed out and scared for their future and their health.

Things are expensive because they have to be in order to operate- they have capacity restrictions but their operating costs haven’t changed on the same scale so keep this in mind.

Restrictions and guidelines change often- be aware of protocols in your destination and check the destinations website often for new announcements.

Don’t go anywhere without testing first, even if you are vaccinated or the destination doesn’t require it. Not traveling while sick will help us end this thing. Be prepared to submit documentation of negative results and show it whenever anyone asks- yes it’s annoying but it’s necessary.

If you don’t want to comply with local protocols in the destination you’re traveling to or enjoy your vacation with the things above in mind, then you should consider postponing travel.

If you are ok with following their protocols. then YES, PLEASE go out and support these places that are trying to survive long enough to give us that pre-pandemic experience!

And…be nice to your travel advisor, hotel staff, airlines, taxi drivers, etc….we have all survived watching our industry be completely rocked to its core and we all still need an extra dose of kindness (but maybe not a hug unless you have a negative test result in hand 😜)
