UPDATE: Unfortunately, tonight's meeting has been cancelled due to the weather; we hope to see you in February.

Come join us for a very basic and introductory foray into the world of Photoshop AI where we will discuss and demonstrate some of the basic uses for AI in Photoshop. Chuck Almarez will demonstrate some basic techniques and work through several examples of the new Generative Fill layer possibilities. We’ll work solving real problems with real examples, eg, how to make your 2x3 image format fit an 8x10 space without cropping. Or how about creating a pano out of your 4x5 image without cropping, plus a few tips and tricks and things to look out for in Photoshop AI.

We will meet in The Piovano Room of the Rockbridge Regional Library, Main Street, Lexington beginning at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, January 16.

Reminder: February Camera Club Assignment

The assignment for February is Trilogies. Refer to the earlier post information for the description. This assignment is due on or before Saturday, February 25, 2023.

Email your submittals to [email protected].

02/21/2023

Our February 21 (Tonight!) Rockbridge Camera Club meeting will be at 6:30 pm in the Sunnyside House at Kendal. Please note the location change, as the library meeting room is still unavailable. Directions to Kendal:

From Lexington, once you get to the intersection of Lime Kiln Road and Enfield Road, go uphill on Enfield. At the top of that hill, Kendal is on your left, clearly marked with a sign.
Take the Kendal road to the 4-way stop, and continue straight ahead, and you will see the old farm house (Sunnyside House) straight ahead just past the parking area (and that is where you should park).
Enter Sunnyside by the door that faces the parking lot, and once inside make your way to the left where we'll meet in the “Great Room.”

(for GPS directions use 160 Kendal Drive, Lexington, VA 24450. This will get you to the Kendal campus, then follow the above directions to Sunnyside.)

The assignment for February is Trilogies.

Summary: February 2023 Trilogies

A lot of photography is conceived as individual images. Previous Assignments have introduced some cohesion among the images we shared by virtue of their stemming from the assignment itself. But this month we'll be thinking of trios of images that go together such that the whole is more than the sum of the parts. Unlike "triptychs," trilogies do not admit simply taking one scene and dividing it into 3 parts. Choosing your unifying element is an important part of this month's assignment. You may submit 3 sets of images (trilogies for this assignment.

Once it moves into the Gulf, all bets are off.

Thank you.

Project Horizon, the Rockbridge area organization dedicated to eradicating domestic, sexual and dating violence through education, advocacy, empowerment of survivors and by being a sanctuary for victims, will be presenting a Juneteenth Art Show (part of a multi-year project) based on the theme "No one is free until we are all free." “Juneteenth” honors the emancipation of the Confederacy’s last slaves in Galveston, Texas, on June 19, 1865. The Museums at W&L are proud to sponsor efforts to share the work of local artists, honor a historic moment, and consider the lasting legacy of the fight for freedom.

Artists’ works will be displayed in local storefronts and at the Nelson Gallery beginning TODAY (June 5) through June 30. A People's Choice Award for the public's favorite work of art within the show will be awarded at the conclusion of the show -- to vote for you favorite, visit https://pollunit.com/polls/sxbuhgkyedsuxco9tqslvw.

You can read more about the Juneteenth Art Show and its sponsors/supporters at https://www.thenews-gazette.com/content/artists-invited-participate-juneteenth-art-exhibition.
