Thorpedo Anna appreciation post 🐻

Her 2024 campaign included wins in the Kentucky Oaks and Breeders' Cup Distaff, among other top victories this year. Thorpedo Anna is admiringly known as 'the grizzly' thanks to the determination and grit she's shown on the racetrack.

She is currently enjoying a vacation at trainer Kenny McPeek's Magdalena Farm in Lexington, before heading back to the track in early 2025! Magdalena offers tours Thursday-Sunday at 1pm.

Just So is a 4-year-old son of triple crown winner, Justify. After 2 starts on the racetrack, it was clear that Just So wasn’t going to follow in his father’s footsteps, but that didn’t mean he wouldn’t serve a purpose. He was placed with New Vocations to find a new career, and was scooped up by Cari who shares she just knew he was meant to be her horse. The duo competed in the 2024 RRP Thoroughbred Makeover in October.

Countless horses are being dumped in kill pens every single day, bound for a one-way trip to their deaths. Most of our draft rescues are former work horses that have been discarded -- typically after they're no longer considered 'useful' to continue doing that work. That may be due to old age, sickness/disease, or injury. Our team works diligently to rehab those horses and adopt out the younger equines to their forever homes. The senior horses, or those who may need specialized care for the rest of their lives, live out their days with us as sanctuary animals. They're able to do that, because of donors like you!🫶
