Gearing up for the Kentucky State Fair this year! Pride of the Counties is always a moment we strive to proudly display who we are and where we come from. This year is the 120th year of the fair and we wanted to do something special with our booth. Come and be a part of our musical display, and play Live in Liberty! We will have this interactive backdrop as part of our setup starting next Thursday, August 15th-August 25th at the Kentucky Expposition Center in Louisville, Ky. Liberty Tourism is sad to say goodbye to our Summer Intern, Alyssa Sharp. She brought Liberty, downtown, and our events to life in videos! Liberty Tourism and Convention Commission is so excited for our newest downtown mural. Mural artist, Dani Ford, is working hard to complete this massive work on the side of the building previously known as King’s Department Store. Local Business Spotlight on: Nutty Nana’s, located at 156 Hustonville St! Through hosting events, displaying local vendors, and serving up unique and delicious foods, Nutty Nana’s hopes to bring innovation, entertainment, and opportunities for involvement to Liberty. Owners Andrew and TJ shared about their willingness to help out the community in any way possible, whether it be hosting fundraisers, events, or just being willing to listen. If you’re looking for any recommendations from Nutty Nana’s, here are the owners’ favorites: TJ fancies a grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce, cheese, pickle, and secret sauce; cheese bites with a side of ranch; and a Liberty Bell loaded tea or moonshine slushee. Andrew prefers whatever the special of the day is, whether that be a sushi roll, chicken tikka masala, flatbread pizza, plate lunch, or whatever else they’re serving up that day. The crowd favorite, however, is a chicken sandwich with waffle fries and a Liberty Sunrise loaded tea. No matter what you get, it’s bound to be delicious at Nutty Nana’s! Browse, converse, get your belly full, and leave a little nutty from Nutty Nana’s! *Some may be wondering what is happening to Liberty Gifts & More—and we have an answer! Come cozy up with a cup of coffee and a cookie (say that three times fast 😜) and enjoy a good book or conversation with a friend at this local downtown business! Owner Elise stated that she began to grow fond of Casey County when she met her husband, Kevin, who is a CC Native, and she started her business here over a year and a half ago. Their menu is full of items that carry meaning for Elise, from coffee of all sorts, to all-day breakfast items, to healthy lunch and dinner options. She hopes to create an environment at Honeysuckle that feels welcoming and comfortable, where customers feel important and not like they’re just another sale. Elise admires the people and sense of community that Liberty possesses.
