Did you know that we drop more floats during the winter than the summer? 🔮

In the summer months of June, July and August, we drop thirty regular floats on the beach per week (not including our "special drop" dates). During the off-season months of September through May, we drop an additional twenty floats per week. That is fifty regular floats dropped per week in fall, winter and spring!

So not only are there less visitors to the beach at this time, but more floats are dropped too! That makes your chances of finding a float that much higher this winter and spring. 😉

Happy Presidents' Day! Did you know that Lincoln City is named after President Abraham Lincoln?

Before Lincoln City was called Lincoln City, this area was a cluster of small villages: Wecoma Beach, Oceanlake, DeLake, Nelscott, Taft and Cutler City.

The communities decided to consolidate in the 1960s, and there was a contest amongst residents and school children to decide the name of the new town. The top five submissions were Miracle Beach, Lincoln City, Miracle City, Surfland and Holiday Beach.

The two most popular were Lincoln City and Surfland. Although Surfland was the name preferred by schoolchildren, some committee members thought that was a “honky-tonk” name. In the end, Lincoln City was chosen.

📣 Special float drop! We’re dropping EXTRA glass floats as part of our popular Finders Keepers program this week. These special floats were created by the artists at The Edge Art Gallery. Here’s what’s happening:

😁 June 23-24, 2023: Celebrating the anniversary of Chinook Winds Casino with 28 extra glass floats!

😁 June 24-25, 2023: Celebrating the Summer Kite Festival with 10 extra glass floats!

Here are some important Rules of the Hunt:

🎯 Limit: one float per household, per year. If you've already found a float this year, please leave the float for some other lucky person to discover. But feel free to take a pic before you move on.

⛱️ Floats can be found above the high tide line and below the beach embankment.

🌤️ Floats are placed on the beach during daylight hours only.

⏳ Floats are hidden throughout the day, not all at once.

📆 Floats are out there every day rain or shine. On rare occasions, weather and ocean conditions can create unsafe situations. Official notice of any cancellations will be made on our social media channels and website.

💚 Be mindful and respectful of the environment when hunting.

Happy hunting! If you do find a float, follow the instructions on the float to register your treasure. You’ll receive a Certificate of Authenticity and information about the artist who crafted your float.
