Have you heard... The huskers will take the field at Stuhr Museum on September 14! No, not those 'Huskers', the hand cornhuskers who will be competing to see who is the fastest corn husker in the state! The Nebraska State Hand Cornhusking Contest is a historic contest that began in the 1920s to keep the art and skills of hand husking alive in a time when mechanized harvesting was taking over the country. You're invited to come and watch or participate! The state contest is open to cornhuskers of all ages and all skill levels, even if you've never picked an ear of corn before! The registration fee is $35 (or $25 if pre-registered by August 27!) and includes entry into up to 3 classes. ~Friday, they are hosting a BBQ for entrants and get Acquainted party.
~On Saturday, there is a live band, Freedom Road playing downtown. Thank you.
