Resting on concrete pilings, the construction features impact glass and is designed to absorb 180 mph winds, consistent with the most stringent hurricane protection codes in the Florida Keys . 1) They grow to be 9-10 feet long and weigh around 1,000 pounds, but some grow to more than 13 feet long and weigh more than 3,500 pounds.

2) They love to eat. Adult manatees usually consume between 4 and 9 percent of their body weight daily.

3) They spend as much as 8 hours per day searching for food.

4) They are related to elephants.

5) They cannot move their heads sideways.

Bonus: They are protected by law. Look but never touch and keep your distance when boating.

Pet-friendly beach with a palate-satisfying selection of craft beer and wines, this restaurant welcomes your arrival via car, motorcycle, and even boat or kayak. Bring your own catch and the chef will prepare it for you. 🎣
