After reading this post from the center price in the picture I debated so many things - but then I read this post from Noel Cookman and had to post his response here - take whatever side you may buy this man basically just called bull crap on the entire Greek mythology celebration with huge factual backing - what’s your thoughts

This defense of the Olympic opening is all over social media.
Here is what we should be telling these numb-nuts:
A few problems with your description.
1. If this grotesque depiction is so tethered to ancient Greek religion from which times we get these Olympics, where has this "celebration" been since 1896, the first year the modern Olympics were held since being banned 1,500 years prior? ..which brings up
2. There is no straight line of history that legitimizes such religious overtones in the Olympics. To be clear, this barbaric Greek mythical religion has no modern historic claim upon the Olympics.
3. This Greek religious tradition, which so delights you, also included human sacrifice, common pe******ia, human slavery of up to 40% of the population and a caste system - all prescribed and enforced by their gods - that would rival India's. So please forgive me for not being impressed with your celebration of Greek religion.
4. Advanced civilizations, notably Western ("Christianized"), have long since rejected these barbaric religions, their resurgence from time to time being a mere regurgitation from the bowels of hell itself (a reality which is undeniable for the champion of Greek religion).
5. Any connection to past barbaric religions in no way justify any current display of such decadence. You love the decadence; I get it. But your fascination with it only justifies our repulsion of it, you hardly being qualified to prescribe rules for life and society.
