A colleague and friend is currently in Jamaica. She is staying at Sandals Royal Caribbean.
Read her words about the past 48 hours.
“If the world could have seen what I was able to experience and live in the past 48 hours.
I was at
And to my surprise Hurricane Beryl was forming in the Caribbean.
I’ve always had a love for the island and the people this island have been the most welcoming, friendly, giving and compassionate people I’ve ever met. After the past 24 hours, Jamaica is now is also part of my soul.
This resort is run under the name of Ms. Dawn Smith who is one of the top notch, most professional effective and efficient resort manager I’ve ever met
She kept us inform multiple meetings throughout the day in the lobby or by the poolside informing us so what the resort was doing and what was going on with the weather reports
She was ensuring us that we would still have time to be fed and be safe, but with that being said, the people that work underneath her worked nonstop to ensure our safety
The most incredible thing in the world was when we woke up Thursday morning after the hurricane, the resort was not as pristine and beautiful as it was when I arrived. But what I got to be a part of was beauty of humanity and it is still alive. I found that the entire resort: Jamaicans, Americans, Canadians and British and all people ,all got to work to clean up the resort, there is nothing that any of us resort guests wouldn’t do to help!
We all went to work cleaning sweeping filtering out the pools putting things back where they belong and the list goes on and on we did not stop for4 hours straight.
The entire resort from the time I woke up on Thursday morning, went from a disaster zone to the pristine and beautiful resort. Besides some constructional damages you would not have known we were hit with a category 4 Hurricane. That is how hard we all worked together!
This is what the world needs to see and focus on. We all came together for a common goal, to help and pitched in to help this wonderful resort and the wonderful people of this island with the clean up.
This was far the best way I have ever spent and celebrated my 4th of July
