Next was a Travel Say from Ravenna to Bergamo with stopover in Parma for lunch!

Brenda had a Black Truffle Pasta... it was marvelous! Getting to our hotel was quite the challenge... But when we finally arrived there, we were greeted with flowers, great views and welcome drink.

My first hideous orange cocktail-- as Dallas Jerry would say-- and it was quite bitter and awful! Then a romantic dinner for two at the restaurant next to hotel
Next up we will explore the old city Bergamo, a new first for us.

These photos are from our last night in Ravenna!

On a stroll to dinner we took in a local Basilica before sunset... At our outstanding dinner Brenda had Veal with Limon, Rick had Veal with Porcini Mushrooms-- both were pounded super thin and about the best we have ever had! Each meal was served with mixed salad and 1/2 liters each of della casa wine (look where from)! All of 54 euros--unbelievable-- too bad we have to go thousands of miles for good and affordable meals!!!

Next we were off to Bergamo, stopping in Parma for lunch and seeing Sunday festivities!

Next we enjoyed a day trip from Ravenna... and guess what we found?!?! Wine Tasting in Modigianna! It was about an hour from Ravenna, but our gps doesn’t always behave!

We went to Ronchi di Castelluccio, which is at a elevation of 1500 feet. It was similar to our Sierra Hills wineries and with spectacular views of the valley. Our host/owner Aldo treated us to visit and taste two Sauvignon Blancs and two Sangioveses, typical of the region. Both were very good and went well with the meat, sausage and cheese plate! Aldo was a very charming and interesting man with lots of stories.

Then we made a quick stop to a little village he recommended, Brisighella, it was siesta but we were able to grab a quick gelato!

Marvelous day for us!!! 👏

THE TRIP HAS BEGUN!!!
We are traveling light on our first leg to Ravenna Italy!

A simple pasta dinner with bruschetta at Al Cerchio super yummy and then we welcomed the decorative bed after long day traveling. Then we were off to the Adriatic seaside towns of Cesenatico for lunch on one of the canals and then north to Marina di Ravenna-- a very popular beach area on the Adriatic Sea. We got back to Ravenna safe and sound and are so excited to meet up with the rest of the House of Travelers!

Bougainvillea-covered balconies, jungles teeming with wildlife, one of the most brazen engineering feats in human history... there's more to treasure here than the Spanish ever dreamed of. Step back in time to the height of the Spanish Empire in Cartagena and Santa Marta, where you can tour museums glittering with pre-Colomian gold and jewelers display fresh-from-the-mine emeralds. Join the birds in the rainforest canopy and caimans in thick mangroves. Relive history as you transit the Panama Canal, enormous locks gaping above you and Lake Gatun spread out below. Interact with the Kunas at the San Blas Islands and celebrate the day with our Signature Beach Baebecue there. Dine alfresco beneath a colony of stars and toast the perfect antidote to winter.

Day 1: BALBOA / FUERTE AMADOR
One of the entrances to the Panama Canal on the Pacific side, Balboa/Fuerte Amador was founded in 1519 and is a short distance from Panama City. In 2012 Balboa was ranked #1 in Latin America in the category of wold's busiest container ports. Sightseeing highlights include the colonial homes, the Administration Building the Goethals Memorial, the Prado, and the local handicraft markets of traditional Panamanian crafts.

Day 2: PANAMA CANAL
At nearly 48 miles long, on your transit through the Panama Canal you will enter three sets of locks that raise and lower the vessel 85 feet between the calm Pacific Ocean and the shimmering waters of the Atlantic. Your voyage features a daylight hours transit with numerous observation vantage points for outside viewing and comfortable indoor air-conditioned lounges. Expert onboard commentary enhances your journey as you watch the day to day workings of this bucket list experience.

Day 3: BOCAS DEL TORO
Bocas del Toro on Bastimentos island was visited by Columbus in 2502 and then built up with colorful and Caribbean-style clapboard houses by the United Fruit Company in the early 20th century. Situated on the beautiful Bocas del Toro archipelago, the laid-back and friendly community is a great combination of races and ethnicities living harmoniously. West Indians, Latinos, and Extraneros (the resident gringos) make this an easy place to feel right at home and embrace the relaxed Caribbean vibe of the town. Not far from town is the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, as well as two national parks, La Amistad and many banana plantations.

Day 4: SAN BLAS
The San Blas Islands of Panama is an archipelago comprising of approximately 278 islands and cays, of which 49 are inhabited, some by the Kuna people. Scattered over an area of about 100 square miles, the islands are the number 1 vacation destination in Panama although the Kuna work hard to protect their land against overwhelming tourism and keep the islands healthy and lovely, unique and untouched by culture. These white-sand and palm tree lines islands are encompassed by a coral reef and warm, crystal-clear water that is perfect for snorkeling and is home to a variety of marina life including dolphins, sharks and giant manta rays.

Days 5 & 6: CARTAGENA
Welcome to the sparkling city of Cartagena, where the gold and jewels of the Spanish Main awaited shipment across the Atlantic. No pirate could resist, nor will you be able to when you visit this historic city. The Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is surrounded by 400-year-old walls and contains a plethora of churches, fortresses, and restored colonial mansions. Outside the walls are more treasures: Climb the massive Castillo de San Felipe to investigate its maze of hidden tunnels, or shop for the perfect emerald.

Day 8: ORANJESTAD
Known for having some of the best beaches in the Caribbean, this Dutch port makes it easy to just... take it easy. Walk through town to choose your favorite carved wooden door, or spend the day like the Arubans do playing dominoes at a beachside table.

Insider Tips
‱One of the best souvenirs of this journey is a hand-embroidered mola made by the Kuna Indians, something that is only sold in Panama and Colombia. One of the best places to buy them is at the handicrafts market in Balboa.
‱Get ready for a special treat when we’re in the San Blas Islands. We’ll open the Watersports Platform at the stern of the ship so you can enjoy all its complimentary water toys. And you’ll be treated to all the delights of our Signature Beach Party while you are here.
‱Birders take note: Colombia has the highest bird diversity of any country with more than 1,900 species, and our excursion to Cartagena’s National Aviary lets you see an important sample of this variety.
‱Brightly dressed palenquera ladies – carrying fruit trays on their heads – add to the beauty and attraction of Cartagena. Some will happily pose for you in exchange for a small tip.
‱The coffee and chocolate (cacao) grown in this region are delicious. Be sure to try some, and if you have a chance, visit a farm where the crops are grown to learn how they’re produced.

Star Pride is large enough to pamper and entertain you, yet small enough to tuck into delightful tiny harbors and hidden coves that others can’t reach.

New public areas, including two new dining venues, a new spa, infinity pool, and fitness area. With ocean views and at least 277 square feet of comfort, Star Pride is the perfect yacht to watch glaciers and fjords drift by from the serenity of your suite.

I am beyond excited....this is the ultimate itinerary!!!

Day 1: CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA
It’s difficult to get lost in Cape Town because gorgeous Table Mountain looms above the city as a reference. For breathtaking views, ride the cable car to the top, or explore this urbane city on foot. Visit the fascinating South African Museum and Planetarium and the culturally significant St. George’s Cathedral.

Day 2: MOSSEL BAY, SOUTH AFRICA
With an average of 320 sunny days a year, Mossel Bay has the second mildest climate in the world according to the Guinness Book of World Records. Enjoy walks along the beautiful beaches, horseback riding and whale and dolphin watching. Track big game on a thrilling safari or take a cruise to Seal Island, populated by over 2,500 Cape fur seals.

Day 3: AT SEA

Day 4: DURBAN, SOUTH AFRICA
British colonial architecture prevails in Durban, yet natural beauty is what characterizes this charming city on the Indian Ocean. Its Golden Mile beach area attracts sunbathers, of course, but also shoppers and those who enjoy walking the promenade. The Juma Masjid deserves a visit, as it's the largest mosque in the southern hemisphere.

Days 5 & 6: RICHARDS BAY, SOUTH AFRICA
Take an excursion to one of the nearby game reserves or simply gaze over the surrounding waters, where you might get a glimpse of dolphins, whales and kite-surfers. The best view is from the lookout point at Alkantstrand Beach. Richards Bay is a busy port and the myriad of specialized ships will intrigue marine buffs.

Day 7: MAPUTO, MOZAMBIQUE
Intent on recapturing its former glamour, Maputo once again attracts the rich and famous, whom you may see while sipping a cocktail at the extravagant Hotel Polana. Maputo's struggle for freedom from Portuguese colonialism is recounted in local museums.

Days 8 & 9: AT SEA

Day 10: MAYOTTE, FRENCH COMOROS
While the other islands of the fragrant Comoros (known as the "Perfume Islands") gained independence from France in 1975, Mayotte remained under French rule, and you'll welcome the influence. The Petit Terre district boasts fine patisseries, boutiques and art galleries, and there's a French flair everywhere.

Day 11: NOSY BE, MADAGASCAR
Lying off the northern coast of Madagascar, Nosy Be (which means "Big Island" in Malagasy) contains seven volcanic lakes and is blanketed with fragrant flora such as ylang-ylang, frangipani and vanilla. Unusual wildlife flourishes here, as witnessed in Lokobe Nature Reserve, home to maki lemurs, chameleons and paradise flycatchers.

Day 12: ANTSIRANANA, MADAGASCAR
Port Description Coming Soon

Day 13: AT SEA

Day 14: MAHE, SEYCHELLES
Gorgeous and romantic, the Seychelles define tropical beauty. A mountain range runs through the spine of Mahé, the largest island, and scenic national parks have sprung up around it, attracting hikers. Still, it's the idyllic beaches that have immortalized Mahé and its laid-back capital of Victoria, where the Seychellois speak a mellifluous Creole patois.

Day 15: LA DIGUE, SEYCHELLES
The most tranquil and relaxed of the Seychelles islands, La Digue allows you to step back in time, to appreciate a slower pace, to dive or snorkel the untouched reefs, enjoy the white sand beaches, hike into the stunning mountains of the interior for bird watching.

Days 16 - 18: AT SEA

Days 19 & 20: MALE, MALDIVES
As the capital of the low-lying, coral-bed Maldives, winsome Malé is surrounded by a sea wall, where you might watch the fishing dhonis return with the day's catch. Also be sure to see Friday Mosque, a masterpiece of filigree-curved coral built in the mid-1600s, and the Mulee-aage Palace.

Day 21: AT SEA

Day 22: MANGALORE, INDIA
Enjoy the beautiful beaches on the Arabian Sea, watch the fishing boats and explore the city, especially the 10th century Manjunatha Temple, St. Aloysius College Chapel, the Sultan Battery, Light House Hill Garden, Mangala Devi Temple and the Jumma Masjid. See a traditional South Indian dance performance or perhaps encounter a festival honoring a local deity.

Day 23: COCHIN (KOCHI), INDIA
Discover the amazing contrasts of this cosmopolitan, Portuguese-founded city with its lovely colonial architecture, Dutch-style palaces, historic churches, Jewish quarter and huge Chinese fishing nets. Or explore tranquil canals by boat and see ancient villages, exquisite scenery, plantations and temples. See Indian cotton made in traditional fashion.

Days 24 & 25: COLOMBO, SRI LANKA
Dotted with stately colonial buildings, Sri Lanka’s largest city is quite beautiful and wonderfully frenetic. Explore the museums and temples or watch cricket at Galle Face Green. If the thrilling energy of the city becomes too much, relax under a cinnamon tree in serene Viharamahadevi Park.

Day 26: HAMBANTOTA, SRI LANKA
Off the beaten path on the southern edge of Sri Lanka, Hambantota reveals verdant beauty, ample culture and incredible biodiversity. It’s a gateway to several stunning national parks and wildlife sanctuaries. Yala National Park is a top choice for its sheer variety of wildlife – you might spot elephants, leopards, sloth bears and more. The UNESCO World Heritage site of Galle is also accessible from Hambantota – the 18th-century walled Old Town features charming Dutch architecture and possesses a beguiling, exotic ambiance that enchants travelers. Mirijjawila Botanical Garden, located in the dry zone, features a dazzling spectrum of rare and endemic plant species.

Days 27 - 28: AT SEA

Days 29 & 30: PHUKET, THAILAND
Experience the many aspects of beautiful Phuket, from its lush landscape and gorgeous beaches to its 19th century Chinese and Western architecture and stunning temples. Visit the fascinating Sea Shell Museum, see the ornate Wat Chalong, watch elephants go through their paces at the elephant camp, and explore the unique and breathtaking Phang Nga National Park. Or just play on one of the island's fabulous beaches.

Day 31: PENANG, MALAYSIA
Visit a batik factory, a butterfly farm, a mosque, church and Indian temple, or just laze around on the beach. Hike the rainforest and waterfall-clad mountains that form the backdrop to the beautiful sandy beaches on the island known as "The Pearl of the Orient." The capital of the island was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its unique culture and architecture.

Day 32: KUALA LUMPUR, (PORT KLANG), MALAYSIA
Spend the day discovering this cosmopolitan city and its diversity of cultures, from the soaring Petronas Towers and the royal palace to Gothic churches, colonial remnants and a restored Malay timber house in a lovely heritage center. Experience everyday life as you browse the bustling markets and shops. Shopping: Shop for crafts, fine pewter, jewelry and batik.

Days 33 & 34: SINGAPORE, SINGAPORE
Discover a delightful city of contrasts, from its old Chinese quarter and colorful Hindu temples to its modern skyscrapers, famous Tiger Balm Gardens and magnificent National Orchid Garden. Stroll along the Esplanade. Take a short cruise along the Singapore River and a tri-shaw ride through town. Visit the Kranji Memorial and Changi Chapel and Memorial, dedicated to those who lost their lives here during World War II.

Sleek and elegantly charming, Insignia's decks are resplendent in the finest teak, custom stone and tile work, and her lounges, suites and staterooms boast luxurious, neo-classical furnishings. Insignia offers every luxury you may expect on board one of our stylish ships.

Eat, Drink, and Explore Your Way Through PERFECT PORTUGAL!

Rambling vineyards and charming native farms cling to the steep sides of the Douro River Valley, creating an incomparable backdrop to one of Europe’s most unspoiled regions and to Port country— the world’s oldest demarcated wine region. Sail roundtrip from Porto, the beautiful “City of Bridges”; visit Regua, the ‘capital’ of the Douro Valley; and marvel at Salamanca, the UNESCO-designated “Golden City.” Taste wines from historic wineries and soak up the genuine beauty of one of Europe’s most unadulterated landscapes.

Day 1: EMBARKATION - PORTO, Portugal
Board the ship for your Enticing Douro cruise. (D)

Day 2: RÉGUA
This tranquil village offers an authentic slice of Douro River life. Indulge in a traditional Portuguese lunch with your fellow travelers in Regua at a local quinta – a country estate – for a truly authentic culinary experience. In the afternoon, visit the Baroque-style Palacio de Mateus and its gardens. Inside the house, you’ll see interesting furnishings, paintings and a ceiling of intricately carved wood. The gardens here are considered some of the most beautiful in Portugal. (B,L,D)

Day 3: VEGA DE TERRÓN
In the morning, spend time soaking up the beauty of this picturesque port before you visit Castelo Rodrigo, a small fortified village perched high on a hilltop with centuries-old walls, steep narrow streets and fantastic views. You can also opt to hike up to the village should you wish a more active exploration. (B,L,D)

Day 4: VEGA DE TERRÓN, SPAIN – SALAMANCA
Drive to Salamanca, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built of golden sandstone, Salamanca is known as a “living museum,” and you will have an opportunity to step back in time to the Middle Ages during your escorted tour, which includes the city’s elegant university buildings, the New Cathedral, the intriguingly decorated House of Shells and Plaza Mayor. (B,L,D)

Day 5: PINHÃO
Spend time soaking up the beauty of the Douro River as you cruise to Pinhão. Be treated to an exclusive lunch at Quinta da Avessada, where you’ll enjoy an authentic and traditional dining experience complete with entertainment. Quinta da Avessada is also a fascinating interactive museum commemorating the history and culture of wine in the Alto Douro region, so you’ll have fun discovering all the various stages of wine production as well as doing plenty of tasting. Savor the flavors of Portugal’s renowned fortified wine, vinho do porto, made exclusively in the Douro Valley. Head to a local quinta for your authentic Port-wine tasting experience and enjoy the sweet nectar of this fascinating region. (B,L,D)

Day 6: RÉGUA
Travel to picturesque Lamego, home to one of the most important pilgrimage sites in all of Portugal, where you’ll go to the Nossa Senhora dos RemĂ©dios (Sanctuary of Our Lady of Remedies). The shrine features a staircase of nearly 700 steps, beautifully decorated with white and blue tiles, which the more active adventurer will want to climb on a guided hike. Concluding both tours, you will have the opportunity to sample local traditional specialties, such as bĂŽlas de Lamego, bread filled with smoked ham; presunto, a type of dry-cured ham; and Espumante, a Portuguese sparkling wine.
