Day 5- Naples, Italy
Friday, Sept 13
Today we arrived in Naples, Italy at approximately 7:30 AM. we decided to take a tour with another excursion company called shore excursion group. The driver (also tour guide) met us outside the security gates at 8:30 and lead us to a very small eight passenger van. The van was so beautiful as it was a brand new Mercedes-Benz van with many levels of comfort. Thankfully, we had such a great ride considering the traffic challenges. There was many places where we were stalled in traffic.
The driver then found out later that the hydrofoil that normally takes people from Naples to Sorrento, and Positano was not operating so therefore everyone had to travel by car on the roads. Thus making traffic even more challenging.

In any case, our driver was superb as he provided commentary of different areas that we passed through. Our first stop was in Positano. We had approximately one hour to do a bit of shopping and peruse the area. Even though this is not high season, the streets were packed and full of visitors from many countries.

Our next stop was Sorrento. Here in Sorrento we were bound and determined to find the items that we were a shopping for – a ceramic pasta serving bowl as well as small pasta bowls. Luckily we were able to find a great shop to purchase these items and then finish off our day in Sorrento with a very hot and scrumptious margarita pizza and Peroni beer.
Even though traffic was problematic, it seemed like a perfect day all the same. Again, we are very fortunate and blessed to travel in such a way.

Day 4- Rome, Italy
September 12
We arrived in Siby to Vecchia port at approximately 7:30 AM. We departed on our drive from this port to Rome at approximately 8:30. The drive from the port to Rome was about an hour and a half. Once we arrived in Rome, our tour guide provided wonderful and advice on places to go while visiting this beautiful city. Well I’ve been to Rome before, it never gets old. There are so many sites to see and enjoy, including the Parthenon, Trevi fountain, Spanish, and Plaza Novona.
Then what’s a trip to Rome without a delicious lunch. We did our best to find leather products and ceramics to take back to New York however, we fell short of finding those ideal items. We will wait until we get to Naples, and Sorrento to do that type of shopping.

Day 3- Florence, Italy (Cinque Terre)
Sept 11, 2024
Today we arrived in Florence Italy. Instead of touring the town and seeing all of the leather goods, as well as oogling the different wine options, we took a different route and went to Cinque Terra.

Cinque Terra is commonly known as an area of Italy that’s located within the hills. All of the homes in the Cinque Terre area are very tightly arranged in the hillside areas with landscaping in between. The word Cinque Terra means five towns. Of the five towns we visited Monterosa, Manorola, and RioMaggiore.
When we looked at the description of the tour, it stated that it was a very rigorous, hiking up and down hills. They were not kidding! The terrain was quite steep and not for the faint of heart. All in all – it was a beautiful day to enjoy these lovely towns

Day 2- Nice, France and Eze
Ahhh- the beautiful city of Nice and Eze fit the quintessential description of France. The open air markets with all of their fresh goods, the freshly made soaps and lavender sachets, gorgeous aprons and lace products, not to mention the beautiful scenery. We started our day in Nice France, walking the streets and enjoying the sides and sounds. definitely a place to come back to and revisit. Our next stop was in a beautiful resort town called ease. It’s located nestled into a high rocky mountain area where there’s plenty of hills to climb to get to the beautiful resort areas. Our tour guide was gracious enough and gentle on our legs to take us to the top of where all the resorts are located in this quaint idyllic town.
We finished off our day with a view of the port of Nice as well as Eze coupled with a beautiful drink at the resort Chateau de la Chèvre D’or (Golden Goat).

Day 1- Barcelona- Departing Barcelona
So this is marking day one of our cruise however we have spent two super days in Barcelona prior to our departure. Must say the city of Barcelona is fabulous! Between all the topless bars, the open air markets, and seeing Sagada Familia, we were completely wowed by the culture, architecture, and extraordinary food of this beautiful city.
