Property update - Friday November 8th

Our property continues to be closed to anyone who is not an owner, employee, or hired vendor.

Due to Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton, we have cancelled all reservations through November. Our property was already planned to be closed the first three weeks of December prior to the hurricanes for property maintenance. We have set a tentative goal of reopening for guests December 21st, 2024. This date is subject to change.

After the restoration company finished any remediation that was necessary, the units were transferred over to our contactor who has been hard at work with any repairs necessary. We are happy to report that we have already had units transferred from the contactor back to the rental division for cleaning. We hope to be able to start giving individual unit updates soon, and we appreciate your patience.

As for the grounds, we have almost lost track of all the contractors who have showed up for us. Pool, walkways, landscaping, irrigation, pavers, and soffit/gutter contractors have all assessed what needs done and are all are moving forward. We see more and more contractors onsite each week. We thank every one of our contractors for their hard work and efforts on our behalf.

Property update - Friday November 1st

Our property remains closed to anyone who is not an owner, employee, or hired vendor.

Due to Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton, our property will remain closed through what was a pre-storm planned closure date of December 21st, 2024. Our tentative goal is to open back up December 21st with as much of the property back to normal as possible. This date is subject to change.

We are currently not giving updates on specific ground floor units. None of our second-floor units have damage. We are officially in the rebuild stage and things are moving along well. A huge thank you to all the contractors helping us along the way.

We continue to have our office phones up from 9:30am to noon EST weekdays. If you are unable to get through via phone, please email us at [email protected].

Property update - Friday October 25th

Our property is closed to anyone who is not an owner, employee, or hired vendor.

Due to Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton, we have cancelled all reservations with arrival dates through November 30th, 2024. Our property will remain closed through what was a pre-storm planned closure date of December 21st, 2024.

We are currently not giving updates on specific ground floor units. We are working with a restoration company and are almost through the drying and demo process. Next will be the reconstruction process and preparations for that are already being made as well.

The sand removal from the pool and pool room is nearly complete. Thank you to the team helping us accomplish that tough job! We do not have specific dates on any repairs at this time as we and the rest of the area are all doing the best we can to navigate the post storms situation. Vendors have been onsite to start the ordering process for materials.

Starting Monday, October 28th, 2024, the staff will be in office to answer the phones from 9:30am to noon EST (weekdays only). We ask that if you do not need to call the office and can email instead, please email us at [email protected]. With limited staff, we want to make sure we are helping those who need immediate assistance via phone.

We are working hard on sand removal and continuing to assess damage. We do not have specific dates on any repairs at this time as we and the rest of the area are all doing the best we can to navigate the post storms situation.

Due to Hurricane Milton much of our area is without power, so our updates may be limited. We have been able to access the property, and though we have more damage it is relatively minimal considering how close we were to the eyes landfall. All of our staff is safe and working to assess their homes, based on current updates damage is minimal.

Our office remains closed and our property is closed to anyone who is not an owner, employee, or hired vendor.

We have cancelled all reservations with arrival dates through November. If you have a reservation arriving with us before November 30th, please check your email, you should have correspondence from us. If you do not, please reach out to us at [email protected]. We ask for your patience as we likely won’t be able to respond or process refunds until we get power back. And once we get power we will likely again only able to communicate via email.

Hurricane Helene update Monday September 30th

We gained access to the island late in the day Saturday 9/28 but are still in the early phases of assessing the property. We do not have any definitive answers at this time, but we have cancelled all reservations with arrival dates through October 31st. We know everyone desperately wants an update but we have yet to be given island access to be able to see the property. Thanks to social media and helicopter coverage, we have been able to get some small looks. From what we can see in those videos, structurally the buildings are there and in good shape. The beach side of the property took major storm surge damage. All our tiki huts seem to still be standing but our pool area was hit hard.

Again, we do not know any more than what we, and you, can see on social media. We have yet to get any staff member to the property to assess ground level units or the property ourselves.

Please be patient with us and know we will be contacting all guests about your reservations in stages. We currently only have our rental manager working from a home laptop while also trying to navigate staff, owners, and getting back to the property.

We want to thank everyone for the prayers, well wishes, and thoughts. Please keep them coming as we navigate the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. We will update again once we are able to access the property.

Hurricane Helene

There are still many unknowns about the property and island. Access to the island is still unavailable, water, sewer and power are off, and storm surge damage area wide is severe.

If you have a reservation with us arriving between now and October 6th, please check your email as we have reached out directly.

All of our staff is safe and we will continue to post updates when we are able. Please continue to keep all those in the path of Hurricane Helene in your thoughts and prayers.

Hurricane Helene:

The Town of Longboat Key is currently in a Hurricane and Storm Surge Warning with a Declared State of Emergency in effect. An Evacuation Order has been issued for 7am Wednesday, September 25 and includes Longboat Key. Expected storm impacts will begin as early as late Wednesday.

The Diplomat Beach Resort will be closing at noon Wednesday September 25th. We hope to reopen as soon as it is safe to do so.
