Here is a black and white photo of Hygiene School students sitting around a fire in a lodge. Joe Giesler, an FAA employee, tells some of the 400 visitors from Hygiene School about the history of Thanksgiving as they visited his Cheyenne Lodge Wednesday. He answered questions about the lodge and built a fire as he told stories about mountain men and Indian folklore.

What a cool celebration of our most American holiday.

What year do you think this was?

Thanks History Colorado for helping preserve this local landmark!

Thanks History Colorado for helping preserve this local landmark!

Nestled in downtown Longmont, the Thomas M. Callahan House is an eye-catching and impressive building. Surrounded by gardens that are open to the public throughout the year, the Queen Anne-style home was built in 1892. No longer used as a private residence, the City of Longmont rents the house and grounds out for events. With the help of grants from the State Historical Fund, the city was able to complete much-needed projects addressing some of the more unique needs and features of the home.

To-do list items included preserving the decorative historic concrete driveway, restoring the 1906 paint color scheme and intricate wood exterior detailing, and stabilizing the curved leaded glass window that contains 117 individual pieces of glass.
