With cruises & destination weddings on the horizon, I wanted to be prepared. 🛳️🏝️ Many countries require at least 3 to 6 months of validity left on your passport, or they’ll deny entry! They don’t want you to get stuck there.
I recently renewed mine and it was so easy! Here’s how I did it.
1️⃣ Check the U.S. Dept of State’s website for detailed instructions and if you qualify to renew by mail. If you do, move to Step 2.
2️⃣ Fill out form DS-82, print single sided, sign & date.
3️⃣ Get a new passport photo that meets the requirements. (We have good luck with Walgreens!)
4️⃣ Use the U.S. Dept of State fees calculator and write a check (remember this ancient method of payment? Yes, it still exists & it’s good practice!)
5️⃣ Mail the completed DS-82 form with your new photo, check $, and current passport. I suggest a mailing method with a tracking #.

🚨‼️STOP bringing extra STUFF on vacation!! It’s weighs you down, creates more work & takes up mental energy! And you’ll save $$ in checked baggage fees! Here’s my strategy to pack exactly what you need on your next trip. 🧳 Follow for more planning trips and travel tips!
1) Physically lay out one outfit pairing per day. 👚👖Visually see it! STOP bringing all the extra “what-if” options. Grab mix & match pieces that is weather and excursion appropriate. And don’t forget the last travel day.
2) Lay out any special event outfits. 👗👔🦺(Wedding guest, conference, etc.)
3) One pair of pajamas per 2 nights. Yes, we rewear pj’s 1x on vacation to reduce how much we pack. Shower @ night and it’s a nonissue.
4) Wear your bulkiest items on the airplane! 🥾🧣🧤Layer up those sweaters and jackets and bulky tennis shoes. They take up so much valuable space!
5) Bring outerwear and sweaters that mix & match w/outfits. 🧥Think capsule wardrobe.
6) Bring 1-2 laundry pods and a bag of dryer sheets. 🧺🫧You can always wash clothes if needed!
