To all our ASTA Voting Members I would like to humbly request for you to.....
Please Vote for Me.....Patty Thorington for ASTA Director-At-Large, I am running for my second term. It has been a complete honor to be part of the Board during these past two years where we made a difference and standing in the front lines for California for AB5 and during Covid for the Cares Act, and recently our win for Alaska.
I will truly be YOUR voice with ASTA.
I will listen to your concerns and be your personal advocate as I have for the past 3 years!
My goal is to continue to "Make a Difference" and
help each and everyone in this great industry to be successful.
Tuesday JULY 6th, in the morning you will receive your ballot in an email from Alchemer that will contain important information or you to cast your vote for your ASTA Director at Large. If you did not receive an email please reach out to [email protected].
For the past 25 years I’ve been working at Plaza Travel. During my time at Plaza Travel I’ve held many positions and have dedicated myself to insuring we remain one of the strongest, most admired and most enjoyable places to work. Currently I manage and provide back up for our extensive network of Independent contractors across the country. I am the go to person in the office for assistance, direction and support. My experience and knowledge in the travel industry makes me a valuable resource for our staff.
I’ve been an active member of SOCAL ASTA for six years, and until recently, held the position of Vice President. Additionally, I chair the Millennials and Mentors program created by SOCAL ASTA. I’m excited about all the growth opportunities of mentoring these new agents and sharing with them the importance and value of ASTA from the very beginning of their career.
On a local level I represent the travel industry and Plaza Travel in my networking group Networking Plus, a nonprofit networking group in the San Fernando Valley that helps out local charities with constant donations. I also represent the travel industry and Plaza Travel in the West Valley Chamber, I attend monthly meetings, events and ribbon cuttings.
I have served on the Board of Directors as a Director at Large for the past three years, with very distinguished colleagues. Our industry has been through some very difficult times. One recent example of a huge success occurred a few years ago, with a huge win in California against AB5. Through our efforts, lobbying and attending in person legislature meetings we were able to get travel advisors added to the short list of exemptions to AB5. I currently sit on the board of CCTO and TCRC.
I commit to continue to support and lobby for our industry, as I have through this very challenging year. We continued as a Board to meet on your behalf, and make things happen for our beloved and professional Travel Industry.
lf l have the honor of being nominated again as National Director, and serve for a second term, I will continue to fight for all of us, and continue to educate the travelling public now more than ever that we are here, and that they need us more than ever. I will bring the same enthusiasm, tenacity and perseverance that I have now for SOCAL ASTA, and National ASTA, and look forward to continuing to work with all the board members and ASTA to continue to make things happen for our industry. Being a part of the Plaza Travel family affords me the added experience and exposure of numerous types of travel industry models. Our main office in Woodland Hills, California has over 40 staff, we also have remote branches, virtual employees, a call center, and a new to industry brand.
We have a 100% ASTA membership amongst our Plaza Travel Family.
My experience, dedication and passion to make things happen, and make them better for everyone makes me a great candidate for a National Director.
