Death Valley has a lot of interesting and varied landscapes for visitors brave enough to face the heat! It hit 107 today while we hiked - cool for Death Valley standards but definitely toasty for us!

Temple of Horus at Edfu

Built between 237 and 57 BC and is one of the best-preserved ancient monuments in Egypt. Preserved by desert sand, which filled the place after the pagan cult was banned, the temple is dedicated to Horus, the avenging son of Isis and Osiris.

The Pyramids of Giza

The monumental tombs are relics of Egypt's Old Kingdom era and were constructed some 4,500 years ago. The urban sprawl of Giza and Cairo reaches right up to the edge of these ancient wonders.

Tourism remains low, so lines for this incredible sight are literally non-existent. You can climb up part of the big pyramid as well.

The Egyptian Museum
Still waiting for the Grand Egyptian Museum to open (locals say November maybe) but until then the classic Egyptian Museum in Cairo is like walking back in time to a 1950s archeological expedition. Right now they are packing things up to move to the new museum, so it was actually pretty cool to see the moving/packing happening before our eyes

Blue Mosque of Cairo aka Aqsunqur Mosque was one of the highlights of today’s tour with to experience Islamic Cairo. It is still surreal to believe we are even here in Egypt after planning this trip for 2 years.
Many of the mosques are closed to visitors due to COVID-19, but going with a good tour company can literally open doors for you.

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

Not surprisingly, tourism to these magnificent falls has dropped into the single digits since the start of the pandemic. In an effort to promote Victoria Falls as a safe destination and to revive the vital tourism industry for the area, the Zimbabwean government has prioritized vaccination of all Vic Falls residents. Some 60% of the people there have been vaccinated and the area has largely been spared the current wave of Covid sweeping Zimbabwe. Restaurants in Victoria Falls are able to accommodate indoor dining, something that is currently unavailable across the rest of the county.
