Last outing before - finally - going back home to Belgium after 2 years🙏.
Strada - Eateria & Bar in downtown L.A. already feels a bit like coming home😍
The owner Julian Andrei is Romanian and the chef is Dutch. We love everything here: from the patio, the cocktails, the tapas, their famous sausages and cold cuts to the ravioli and paella. 😀🙌 But most of all the friendly, welcoming atmosphere.😍
And the live jazz concerts on Sundays🎷🎹
Doesn’t that sound like a perfect Sunday evening plan?😉

One of my favorite places in Los Angeles - Mount Wilson Observatory - is re-opening on Tuesday 🙌

Can’t wait to go up there to hike and enjoy the magnificent views.
I hope they will resume their summer concerts under the stars soon🤞🤞

The gates will open at 10 am every day for the remainder of the summer and close at 5 pm. Parking will be available, and visitors can once again hike the grounds, gaze at the telescope domes that dot the landscape, and browse through the Historic Museum in the Lecture Hall. An expansive multi-platform campaign to celebrate the history of the observatory will also begin on the 15th - “Discovering Mount Wilson.”

Looking for a relaxing activity for the weekend? Take a walk through the fragrant lavender fields and the century-old olive groves of Cherry Valley (Inland Empire).

Highland Springs Ranch & Inn is Southern California’s largest organic lavender farm, and its oldest resident, a towering 1,100-year-old Coastal Live Oak tree, is said to be the second oldest in the world.

It also has a fascinating history. The property dates back to 1854. It became a health resort in 1927, known as ‘The Last Resort" as many sick people who were not able to get well with traditional methods, were able to recover through ‘alternative’ health practices such as juice fasting and colon cleansing.

Dr. Albert Einstein loved Highland Springs Ranch and was a regular guest here in the 1930s. Other notable historical figures that were fans of the ranch included Bob Hope, Elizabeth Taylor, Ernest Hemingway, and Roy Rogers.

When visiting the farm check out their lavender-infused products and get a taste of their Lavender Menu.

Book your tickets online.

Don’t know about you, but since life in Los Angeles can be pretty expensive, I try to take advantage of every possible free activity or experience that this city has to offer.

So when I heard that The Made in L.A. 2020 exhibition had finally opened, I rushed to the Hammer Museum where admission is entirely FREE! 🙌

As the name suggests, the acclaimed biennial focuses on local, contemporary artists. Works by 30 Los Angeles–based artists are presented at both the Hammer museum as at The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens. When you visit the Hammer, you’ll get a free pass to The Huntington to view the full exhibition.

Online reservations are recommended!

Need to escape the hustle and bustle of the city? Check out Wildwood Regional Park in Thousand Oaks.

This vast area offers 14 hiking trails that run across ridgelines and into lush valleys. Above the canyon, you’ll walk in between cactus and sage, while the creek below is lined with sycamores and oaks, creating a riparian oasis. It’s most famous for its waterfalls.

We took Wildwood Canyon Trail which is a beautiful and pleasant hike along the creek. From there we followed the signs to Paradise Falls.

There’s still a lot of water and temperatures are still moderate so it’s best to
enjoy this park now.

Look at this stunning golden gown from the roaring twenties😍 It’s the gown silent movie actress Mary Pickford was supposed to wear in the movie Rosita, although it doesn’t appear in any scene. 🤔
Why?? Maybe the exhibit “Becoming Los Angeles” has the answer?
The gown is on display from May 12 through November 14 2021 at Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County

Performer, screenwriter, producer, and director Mary Pickford influenced all that followed her 1920s reign. Today, her lavish costume from "Rosita," glistening with a metallic sheen, returns to 's "Becoming Los Angeles" exhibition floor: http://bit.ly/SewingForGold

Are you watching the Oscars? It’s a very different ceremony this year, right?

This year’s Academy Awards don’t take place at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre but inside Union Station’s grand historic Ticketing Hall (while the station is still operating 😉).

This means I’ll have another great story to add to my downtown L.A. walking tour. 🙌

If you’ve joined my Downtown L.A. walk you had a chance to marvel at the station’s stunning interior. If you haven’t set foot in this historic building yet, then you should visit it one of these days(once the Oscar decor has been removed😉). Or even better, visit it with me😊

It feels so good to be able to do walking tours again. DM for info on my hike ””Backstage pass for the Holywood Sign”😊 with a 360 degrees’ view on L.A from behind the iconic sign, and some history and stories along the way.
For now, only private tours. Face Masks are mandatory (only took them off for pics).

We thought that Spring was the perfect season to shift gears and get on our bikes🚴‍♀️

We drove to Ojai in Ventura County - which is about a 1 1/2 h drive from L.A. depending on where you live. 😍 Rented bikes at The MOB Shop (good and friendly service👌) and pedaled all the way down to the coast.

The Ojai Valley Trail brings you to Ventura and offers scenic views along the way. I also got to forage pink peppercorns🙌, and we were welcomed by a group of pelicans upon arrival.

Then, fuelled by sea, salt, and oysters from The Jolly Oyster, we pedaled back to Ojai and flushed the sweat away with a refreshing bottle of Albariño at the idyllic Old Creek Ranch & Winery.

Finally dinner at Nocciola which one of our favorite Socal restaurants.

Just a perfect day Visit Ojai Ventura

I changed my mind about the vaccine - I was really very scared because I generally don’t trust Big Pharma. Besides, I have a very strong immune system and never had the flu in my life. But... I want to travel - BADLY! - and then I saw my neighbor last week, coming back from the hospital.

I almost did not recognize him😱 He’s been badly sick with covid for 3 weeks now. Is still on oxygen. His wife had covid in a milder version but still, they are our age. He told me we have to take this very seriously.

So I got my J & J shot in The Million Dollar Theatre in downtown🤩
Walk-ins today until 3 pm. No registration needed, no questions asked about immigration status. Free for everyone!
Thank you America🙏

Warning: Flower Overdose 🌸🌼🌺🌹

I love FLOWER BATHING, and in the past, I visited quite a few flower fields all over the world.

As a kid, I went to see the tulips in Holland with my grandmother (whose love for flowers I inherited). I wrote an article on the Rose Fields of Isparta in Turkey where I literally got buried in rose petals. I visited the fragrant lavender fields that surround the abbey of Sénanque in the Provence and those of Cherry Valley in California. I went to see the spectacular orange Poppy Fields of Antelope Valley, witnessed the super desert bloom of Anza Borrego a couple of years ago, and yesterday I enjoyed a burst of colors in Carlsbad🌈

The Flower Fields of Carlsbad Ranch offer a spectacular display of ranunculus flowers and have become part of San Diego County’s heritage.

Carlsbad is only a 1 1/2h drive from L.A.
The best time for visiting is now until the end of April.

Enjoy the flowers🌸

Go see the blue sea

The neon waves are lighting up the coast again. Last spring a massive red tide brought one of the most memorable displays of bioluminescence to SoCal beaches—and it looks like we may have a fairly big bloom again this year. Locals in Dana Point, Newport Beach and Laguna Beach have spotted biolumin...
