I am working on growing my inventory so check back often. The story of BarbeeVintage goes like this: When I was born in 1958, and my parents nicknamed me Barbee, they had no idea that just one short year later the toy giant Mattel would present their own Barbie to the world. She was perfection, and like too many young girls, I felt less than perfect. Truth be told, I couldn't wait to grow up and b
ecome a Barbara. No one ever asks a Barbara "where's Ken?"
In fashion and home decor, everything old is new again. And so it goes with life, as well. Memories get sweeter with age so who better to represent this shop than little Barbee. After all, I was born at the tail end of the fifties and grew up in the sixties and seventies. I spent many Saturdays scavenging flea markets and antique malls. I have a fondness for vintage and, truth be told, a fondness for that old nickname. I am fortunate to live in an area that is rich with cinematic, fashion and decorating history and I will enjoy sharing my vintage finds with you. I love to pick through estate sales of former Hollywood screenwriters, "B" movie stars and other show biz types. The bits and pieces of their fascinating lives are laid bare and spread out on picnic tables in once lush backyards. Bargain hunters and vintage collectors sift and sort through it all. I'm rather picky about my selections and I treat each and every piece with care...they were, after all, a part of someone's life.
