If you’ve been following along for a while, you’ll know I’ve been working on a trip to Antarctica for a penguin-enthusiast-couple for over 2 years now. And you may recall they attempted in January and their cruise was cancelled at 11p the night before. It has been a journey! But, THEY MADE IT. They just returned to land and they saw the Emperor and Adélie penguins that were on their bucket lists - this was by a helicopter landing on Snow Hill Island + a 20 min hike!
Not so fun fact, that may put my Antarctica bucket list on pause: winds some days were up to 99km/hr on the boat and I think I’d actually have a heart attack, if I didn’t perish of sea sickness first. 😅 They are brave souls! So thankful it all worked out and I got this adorable proof! 🐧🫶 (I did a report on Adélie penguins in 6th grade, so life has come full circle)
First video is an Adélie penguin scootin along, and the second photo is two King Penguins in front of a Gentoo Penguin rookery!
