What’s cooler than a bourbon bar in an old converted church? ⛪️ 🥃 One with a two-story bourbon wall and this month’s Kentucky Hotspot: The Last Refuge in NuLu (New Louisville for our out of towners). The Last Refuge is a jaw-dropping shrine to good vibes, great pours, and the kind of pizza that makes you rethink everything you thought you knew about bar food. 🍕

And with Whiskey Thief’s new location just across the parking lot, you can enjoy some stellar distillery action, then stroll over to The Last Refuge for live music and a night cap (or two)! Go on, put it on the list—you’ll thank us later.

There’s nothing quite like the magic of bourbon country to set the stage for unforgettable moments. Over the years, we’ve had the honor of helping couples plan some of their most meaningful milestones. 🥂 In honor of Valentine's Day, here’s a look back on some of some of our favorite bourbon-centric love stories…

Michael and Katie’s engagement was straight out of a fairytale, set against the stunning backdrop of Castle & Key. To commemorate this momentous occasion, together, they pulled their own special keepsake bottle of bourbon straight from the barrel! 🏰💞

Brian and Jacqueline, with a little help from their KBB Driver, got engaged on their tour at Maker’s Mark. They ”sealed” the deal in red wax on a custom bottle of bourbon! ❤️💍

Laura (one of KBB's owners and our only official Kentucky Bourbon Girl) and Rob (part of our amazing booking team) tied the knot this past fall and, of course, they couldn’t do it without bourbon! During the ceremony, the couple each poured from a different Whiskey Thief bottle, blending their bourbons into a custom barrel as a symbol of their union. From the barrel stave guest book to tables named after their favorite bourbons, every detail was filled with bourbon-inspired charm and love. 💒🥃

Check out our distillery of the month and part of our south region tour: Limestone Branch Distillery!

Founded in 2011 by seventh-generation distiller Stephen Beam, Limestone Branch Distillery may be a relatively young establishment, but its roots in distilling run deep. Born in 1770, Jacob Beam, Stephen Beams's Great-Great Uncle, used his farming knowledge to begin producing whiskey in the style we all know as bourbon today, not too far from the grounds of our own distillery.

Priding themselves on an intimate, no-frills craft distillery experience, they offer a unique, up-close look at the whiskey-making process, hand-picked tastings of their famous Yellowstone Bourbon, and private cocktail classes.

Sunday night, we gathered the whole KBB crew—drivers, owners, booking team, and spouses and partners—for a night to remember at the Four Roses Bourbon Barrel Loft at Bluegrass Brewing Company.

We celebrated an incredible 2024, recognized our team’s tour milestones and years of dedication with KBB, and had a blast raffling off bourbons and restaurant gift cards. Dinner, drinks, and laughs rounded out a perfect evening!
