Drama on the Mountain...Two black stallions, Hamlet and Traveler, are challengers to Chief Joseph's band of Nimbus/Encore and Xacara. A few days ago Jupiter managed to get Pilar and her foal, Yara. So much drama!! #pryormountainwildhorses #wildhorses #wildhorsesofmontana #wildontherange #mustangs #stallionaction #wildhorse
6/7/2024: Got a good look at the fillies in Chief Joseph's band. The yearling, Xacara, and 2024 foal, Yara, are nearly identical! They were enjoying a warm spring day in their home in the Pryor Mountains. #pryormountains #pryormountainwildhorses #wildhorses #wildhorsesofmontana #wildhorsesofwyoming #mustangs #mustangsofinstagram
Introducing 2024 Pryor Foal #12: Yellowtail
The mare, Feldspar, is one of the successful on the Pryors. On May 11, she had a new foal with her...a little dun colt. While Feldspar is now with Okomi, the foal's sire is most likely Shoshone. The name, Yellowtail, has such a strong connection to the land of the Pryors. .Robert Yellowtail was a man whose name was shared with the Yellowtail Habitat. The Shoshone River passes through this beautiful area bringing an even deeper meaning to the name.
Watch Yellowtail in this beautiful video from Jessica Pingle. Thank you, Jessica, for sharing this with all of us!
Introducing 2024 Pryor Foal #1: Yuma
The mare, Hataalii, and stallion, Orlando, have a new foal. The new foal was first seen on Tuesday, April 9. It has only been seen from a distance with this video taken by a friend. The best guess now is that it is a colt. This year all the Pryor foals will be named with the letter "Y." This foal has been named Yuma. Watch as the young foal moves with his mother with older sister, Vivianna, trailing behind.
Snowy Day
Our friend, Christie Marcus, shared this video of a Tawa's band in the snow today!! Icara leads the way. She is followed by her son, Winoka, and mare, Umatilla. In typical stallion style, Tawa is at the back of the band.
Thank you Christie!!
This girl is the Pryor Mustang, Wyoming Whisper. She leads her friends in for their evening meal. #Pryor #Mustangs

Merry Mustang Mingle Store...Here We Go!!!
Rio-Rue's band follows a well-worn path as they head to water...slow and steady. Mare Sequoyah in the lead...followed by Ketchikan and Petite Colour. Coming behind is Vista Colour and stallion, Rio-Rue.
Pryor horses, Quasar and Uinta enjoy some play! A special thanks for Nicolle Cruz for sharing her video.
Changing Seasons...
It is a rainy, windy day today...the kind of day that reminds us that summer is passing and fall is approaching. It is a bittersweet time...moving from the abundance of summer to the trying times of winter. But these horses understand the changes and are ready for the changes that will come to their home in the Pryor Mountains.
Steve took this video of Nickel's band today. The band had moved down the mountain in response to the incoming storm.
Nickel's band: Buckskin mare in the lead - Juniper, dun roan stallion - NIckel, black foal - Xavier, Xavier's mother is the dun mare - Helenium, black mare - Limerick, grulla mare - Gaelic Princess, grulla roan mare at the back - Nirvana.

Jesse James & Cecelia's Foal: Her Name is Wyoming Whisper
In late September, a foal was born to a band that spends most of their lives in Wyoming. It is a quiet land - quiet like a whisper. Just yesterday, a closer look showed the foal was a filly. The foal had been sleeping in a soft bed of sagebrush under the warm October sun. Upon rising, the foal walked to her mother, Cecelia, for an afternoon meal. It was a beautiful, quiet moment...and the name came to mind...Wyoming Whisper.
