Connecting with Maps: A Personal Connection to the Geography of WWII Glider Operations

This impactful program is recommended for ages 14 and up.

We will begin at 1:30pm with a presentation by the City of Lubbock Geographic Information Systems department. Learn about the skills and technology of modern mapmaking, a career choice with many possibilities.

Every 30 minutes from 2:00pm to 3:30pm, we will dive into Connecting With Maps. Participants will study maps that compare the geography of World War II glider operations with their own “backyard”. Through the lens of familiar West Texas geography, step into the territory of World War II civilians who lived in the combat zones of World War II.

Kids will love creating their own Top Secret map while the grownups participate in Connecting With Maps.
