Bald eagle nests are generally 5 feet wide and 3 feet deep (something like this model). The largest recorded bald eagle nest was a whopping 9.5 feet in diameter, 20 feet deep, and weighed almost 6,000 pounds.

The afternoon trip had better visibility and we got some good looks at a minke. We've been seeing many species of birds in the bay that used to be found offshore - razorbills, murres, gannets - and on the way in today we saw a Wilson's Storm Petrel!

We took off in thick fog on the morning trip and found whales by shutting down and listening for the blows. We had a finback pass near us and we followed their 'footsteps' on the surface of the water as they swam by. These clear circular patches are formed by the upward motion of their flukes underwater.

We had a great morning trip today! The fog hung back against the islands, and we found a finback who gave a good show to the passengers, some who were on their very first boat ride! We also had good views of eagles and porpoise, and on the way back picked up a minke whale before getting home to Lubec.
Trips leave daily at 10am and 1pm.
Call 733-2009 for reservations.

The Tarquin is back in the water and running 2 trips daily! Come out and look for eagles, seals, porpoise, whales, lighthouses and Roosevelt's. Call 733-4400

Keep an eye out for both the shark and for the tracker!

Remember the great white shark Gladee? A diver that does some work for National Geographic wants to ask a favor. They have been tracking Gladee by satellite into the Bay of Fundy and the tag came off. The tag is about the size of a thermos with an antenna and was last seen off the south west tip of Grand Manan.
Please keep an eye out for it and if seen please scoop it up. The contact info is on it. They would really like to have it back as valuable information is stored in it. Thank you!!
P.S. if you’re on the water (or shore or breakwater...)keep your eye out for Gladee, too. She may be right here in the bay.
