This house has it all – a glorious outdoor hot tub to sink into on a cool summer evening or after a frigid ski day. Two beautiful kitchens, two living rooms and two dining rooms. Plenty of room for your group of family or friends! Lake Rescue Chalet sleeps 12 people on two levels that feature three bedrooms apiece. Upstairs and down are connected by a wrought-iron spiral staircase, and each level

has its own lovely bathroom, gas fireplace, and flat-screen TV. It's a terrific home for families and friends who want to spend time together but also cherish their privacy. In spring and summer, your group has exclusive use of a canoe and two kayaks at our private dock 2 minutes walk down a dirt road -- as well as swimming, fishing, birdwatching, sunbathing, or just relaxing! Barbecue on the huge front deck, watch the great blue herons, the loons or the bald eagles that live just over the ridge, play volleyball in the large yard, roast marshmallows over the fire pit, relax on the porch swing, nap in a hammock in the woods, go hiking, take the family on a picnic, or go road or mountain biking. At night, watch the stars while relaxing in the hot tub on the back deck. Combine the great warm-weather activities at Lake Rescue Chalet with incredible leaf-peeping in the fall, awesome winter sports experiences, and Vermont exploring in the undiscovered springtime months, and you have an unparalleled experience! It looks like Shaw's Supermarket will not be open for at least part of this ski season. You can order online and schedule a pickup at shaws.com. We are urging our guests to shop at home before you head up to ski. If that doesn't work, there are several supermarkets in Rutland (35 minutes from the house): Hannaford's, Price Choppers, and Aldi's.

We also have two wonderful local stores: Singleton's General Store in Proctorsville and Smitty's Chester Market in Chester. There are some farm stores in the area for your meat and poultry needs, including Smith Maple Crest Farm LLC, Plew Farm, and Touch Of Peace Farm.

Coming up through Londonderry? Consider stopping at Clark's IGA or The Vermont Butcher Shop.

Other options include Chloe’s Market in Plymouth (on the way to Killington) and Crowley Cheese Factory in Mt Holly.

As the new bald eagle family settles into its nest just yards from Lake Rescue Chalet, the kitties in the house have lost their outdoor privileges. They used to be allowed on the deck, but no more!

The new bald eagle couple -- yes, he found a new wife! -- is building a new nest just steps from Lake Rescue Chalet! I guess the second wife wanted her own digs. We have been watching their progress from our back deck hot tub, and can hear the squawks of a baby. VERY obstructed view.

We're heartbroken to share that one of the glorious Lake Rescue eagles has been shot to death. This picture of the couple was taken in early morning fog in Summer 2021. VT Fish and Wildlife is investigating, as killing a bald eagle is a federal offense. We hope the surviving eagle will be able to find a new mate and bring them back to our lake. The entire lake community has gotten great joy watching this couple raise their chicks over the past few years.

Lake Rescue Chalet

Lake Rescue Chalet is a large, pet-friendly vacation rental home with a private dock on Lake Rescue in southern Vermont, just minutes from Okemo and Killington ski resorts. This cozy six-bedroom chalet sleeps 16, with 6 bedrooms, 2 kitchens & 2 living/dining areas, plus an outdoor hot tub. Our three boats are a two-minute walk from the front door.

There’s nothing like spending time with family and friends in the land of maple syrup, blazing foliage, antiques, church steeples, Green Mountains, white snowfields and crystal-clear lakes. The only thing that beats taking a canoe out on a misty summer morning is screaming down a ski slope after a fresh snowfall.

Lake Rescue Chalet has two levels that each feature full open-floor-plan living areas with large Smart TVs, fireplaces and kitchens, connected by a custom spiral staircase. Each level boasts three bedrooms, a perfect arrangement for groups that want to share a vacation but keep their privacy.
