Did you know: Oliver Chase, an English-born pharmacist…made apothecary lozenges, rolling ropes of sugar-and-gum dough mixed with medicinal ingredients and cutting them into tablets. …demand for lozenges was high, especially when Chase started making versions without medicine, which could simply be eaten as candy. Chase and his brother set up a factory in South Boston producing “Chase lozenges.” Their company would later be known as the New England Confectionary Company (Necco), which would go on to become America’s longest-operating candy company.

This month, we stand together in pink to raise awareness, honor the survivors, and remember those we’ve lost to breast cancer. Early detection saves lives, and we encourage everyone to educate themselves about the signs and risk factors of breast cancer.

💪 Know Your Risk: Talk to your family to learn about your family health history and talk to a healthcare provider about your risk of breast cancer.

🖐️ Self-Exams: Regular self-exams can help you know your own body and notice any changes right away. If you notice any lumps, changes in the size or shape of your breast, or any other symptoms that are not normal for you, contact your healthcare provider immediately.

📆 Schedule Your Mammogram: Mammograms can detect breast cancer early when it’s most treatable. Women over 40 or women at high risk should talk to their doctor about getting a mammogram.
