As many of you that are return guest know we like to improve our properties whenever we can and here’s some of our future plans!

Eagle And Loon Lookout:

An outdoor private shower space

New well for better water and water pressure

Our Elk Run Estates:

Adding two more cabins! One will be themed after our Cub aka our daughter “Cozy Cubs Cabin” and the other an elegant black and white theme throughout.

Also debating on an outdoor wood sauna!

We’ve had a ton of requests for hut tubs but till we’re up there for the summers full time to maintain those hot tubs that’ll have to wait.

So there’s our near future plans

Ok ok I see my little competition with my wife over whose cabin design is better is in a dead heat now! Cheboygan is growing rapidly now and it’s been fun watching all the new storefronts being redeveloped and entrepreneurial business growth! Unlike many up north towns this downtown isn’t full of a bunch of Tshirt shops and tourist traps or what not. From breweries, to restaurants, boutiques, fishing charters, glass bottom boat tours, awesome farmers market, often live music and of course the classic small town bars it’s becoming increasingly popular with not only downstaters but local neighboring towns alike. Come checkout Cheboygan for your next run to the tip of the mit! From the downtown river connecting massive inland lakes, to the big water beachfront of Lake Huron, it’s got a lot going on from spring all the way through winter! Major developments coming downtown in the next couple years as well for the redevelopment of the old toilet paper factory into residential and more shops! If you’re wanting a trip to get away from the typical noise of heavy populated cites and want something chill come on up. We have 2 cabins you can book or choose one of the many places available in the Cheboygan area. We look forward to your visit!

Another great review on our Garden Cottage of Elk Run Estates! So, funny story about the little competition my wife and I had over which cabin would be the favorite. Dawnie and her mom designed The Garden Cottage and I designed The Huntsman, both of us thinking ours would be a favorite! The Garden Cottage we built first and right out of the gate guests loved it but The Huntsman shortly after we finished and honestly it took a minute for guests to start booking it. The Garden Cottage is warm colorful space with elegance while The Huntsman is wood and steel a modern industrial style, while I love the wood and steel as many guests have as well, still preferred is the Garden Cottage still seems to be the most preferred so far! Now my Huntsman is quickly growing in popularity I must admit my wife Dawnie’s Garden Cottage is currently ahead on reviews! It’s a fun little competition we have amongst ourselves. We often get questions about the fishing at Eagle and Loon Lookout and I can say it’s one of the most loaded inland lakes in Michigan. It’s shallow so the best months are late May to mid June and September through mid October when the water is below 68 degrees. The warmer months you can still produce fish but nowhere near the quality of the best times I’ve listed. KatFisher Bait & Tackle have a ton of baits that work great in our lake, the owners Doug and Kat can give you great information on the best baits and colors doing the best whenever your up there. Early the fish are up pretty shallow even 4-5 foot but as the water warms you’ll do best to stay in 8-12 foot in high weeds. W**d lines are a great way place to start, especially on drop offs. Spinner baits (Red Letter Lures) dominate as the lake is very weedy but the flats that are less weedy rattle traps, swim baits, spoons, crank baits and stick baits all work well. Braided line 15 # test and up is highly recommended along with a minimum of a medium action rod. Feel free to reach out with any questions you might have anytime. When go to the tip of the mitt be sure to go across the mighty Mackinac Bridge to visit Castle Rock - Saint Ignace, Michigan! As a kid growing up we used to love running up the stairs to see who could make it up the fastest. Being one of 6 children it was sibling rivalry war mode 😂. Be sure to grab in UP sticker for your car when you’re done for street cred so you can say you’re not just a below the bridge troll.
