Honestly, I’m not surprised. Planning trips — even if just day trips — instantly lifts my mood. I love exploring small town, backroads, and the changing scenery I have at home here in Wisconsin.

𝗧𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗧𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆! 🧳

When packing for your trip, there’s the essentials: clothes, personal care items, electronics & charging devices, etc. But is there anything else you should bring?

Thanks to one of the travel groups I follow, I’ve started a handy list I’ll share with you during our Tuesday Tips. This week, I’ll start with my top three I personally recommend as well.

𝟭) 𝗗𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱/𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝗽𝗲:

Duct tape can be used to fix just about any rip or tear, or can hold together whatever you need. The blue painters tape is great for fixes, but can also be used for anywhere you don’t want a surface ruined. Think labels, games on the floor for the kids, covering pesky lights at night, keeping bags sealed, etc.

𝟮) 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗼𝘅𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗺:

This was an EXCELLENT suggestion. In the last few years, we’ve seen travelers lose their lives to carbon monoxide poisoning. Unfortunately, you never know when a leak make occur and accidents can happen. Carrying a travel alarm with you will help keep you safe while you travel. This was recommended several times in my group and I honestly never would have thought of it. So take note.

And last for today:

𝟯) 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗰𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘀: ✂️

I don’t know how many times I’ve needed scissors for something. Typically, I try to keep a pair designated for our camping gear, and I’ve definitely needed them during hotel stays as well. Of course if you’re flying, make sure these are in your checked bag before arriving to the airport. 🛫

➡️What items are your must-haves for travel? Let me know in the comments so I can keep building my list! 📝

Why do we travel?

This one comes from the small human I currently nanny. And while it may seem obvious, I thought it was a great question for today’s Passport Monday!

We travel for many reasons — business, recreationally, for family gatherings, weddings, or religion. I’m sure I’m missing many, but these are the main ones.

Traveling allows us to expand our horizons. Seeing new places or exploring our favorite cities, traveling can provide a relief from our daily lives. Even if you’re traveling for business, you’re still getting away from your usual work day.

My siblings and I took a day trip out to Lake Michigan this past weekend, and getting away from our usual scenery just for a few hours made a difference.

Whether traveling near or far, it’s good to get out and see the world. 🗺️

Where in the World Wednesday!

Take a look at these gorgeous views and see if you can guess where you can visit this amazing place for yourself.

I’ll give you a hint to start - it’s one of the top places to visit in 2023-2024. 😉

Over the years, I’ve developed a love for small businesses.

Whether I’m grabbing coffee, getting my nails done, or searching for the perfect gift for someone, supporting that local business is important to me.

As your travel agent, I’ll let you know where everything you need is and help you get to where you want to go, but I’ll also be looking for the local places you can support on your journey.

As I transition my career-space, I plan to make time to explore my home state and neighboring states to showcase small towns, shops, and restaurants you should check out.

My siblings and I grew up driving all over to see new towns and areas, and it’s a part of my upbringing I intend to keep going.

I hope you’ll join me. 🩷

No matter where you end up on your trip, you’ll probably end up walking. A lot.

Make sure you bring comfortable shoes for walking.

Speaking from personal experience here —

On one of our trips to Duluth, I thought I had comfortable enough shoes. I wear them every day at home, so why not?

🤦🏻‍♀️ I was that person buying new shoes because my feet were in so much pain from all the walking.

Walking around places on trips wasn’t new to me, so even my best judgment was a bit off that trip.

So when you’re picking out your feet’s best friends, make sure they cover the basics:

➡️ good support inside and out

You want to make sure the outsole provides a good barrier between you and the ground, and has grooves to provide enough traction for your terrain.

On the inside, the insole should provide cushion, but be strong enough to support your foot. Generally, you’ll want to look for insoles made from gel, foam, or an air midsole.

➡️ plenty of space for your toes

➡️ size that fits comfortably without falling off or being too tight.

➡️ air flow is important.

When you’re walking everywhere, the last thing you want is your feet becoming small hotboxes. Make sure air is able to flow through to keep your feet cool and keep excess moisture from sticking around.

And of course, make sure you give your feet some breaks! Rest stops are good for everyone, so stop at a local restaurant and grab something to fuel up for the rest of your walk.

So what does a travel agent do?

This is a great question! If you’ve never used an agent before, it can be a bit confusing. I am happy to answer any other questions you may have, but here is a quick overview of what I will do for you.

Traveling doesn’t need to be stressful. No matter your reason for travel, working with a travel agent can minimize your stress and allow you to have the best trip possible. The service is F R E E to you, and all it takes is starting with some basic information about your trip. This includes who is traveling, when you’re traveling, where you’re headed to, any activities you may like to do, and any other requests you may have.

I will take this information and do the research for you. At our next scheduled call, I will present you with a few different options for you to choose from. You pick, and then we get you all booked for your trip!

But my services do not stop there. I want to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible for you. All you have to do is pack your bags and get to your destination. From follow ups and check-ins with all of your booked services, finding out where you will meet transportation at the airport, and any other information you need to know, I’ll handle the details.

Let me be your go-to for all the information. You already work hard enough throughout your day, let me do this part for you.

Whether you’re going for a fun and relaxing vacation, business, wedding, family reunion, or whatever reason, let me handle the details.

You just go on your adventures. ✈️

Hey!

I’m Jenn, and I am extremely excited to be starting this journey as your new travel agent!

From the time I was a toddler, I have been traveling around the Great Lakes region. My family loved spending every weekend camping and spent many longer vacations discovering the upper Midwest with our RV. In my later school years, I was fortunate enough to visit Washington DC with my class and tour Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New York City with my orchestra.

Travel has always played a role in my life. As a child, I tracked down the tourism pages for the states I dreamed of visiting one day and ordered every travel guide I could. Creating mock trip plans and travel guides wasn’t abnormal for me, and you better believe I had a perfect score on my U.S. States test (including the bonus abbreviations and locations). Yeah, I was that kid.

Leaving the country is still on my to-do list, but I can confidently say you won’t find a more excited, thorough, and thoughtful agent to help plan your trip. Attention to detail and thinking of all the little things is my superpower.

I cannot wait to get your next trip booked. Let’s plan some great adventures!

Love,

Your Travel Bestie
