It's the second day of #WorldWaterWeek and we want to highlight the importance of controlling foam and eliminating the cause. Solving foaming problems early can save #wastewater plants thousands in potential cleaning costs.

When our lab analyzes your wastewater samples our microscopists like to document the interesting bugs they see.
Here you have a #tardigrade hanging out on some floc in the sample.

Here you have a video of this month's bug, Beggiatoa.
Have you ever seen this under the microscope? Let us know!

Take a look at this whipping nematode. These #wastewaterbugs have a history that goes back 120-135 million years ago, if found in your system they are indicators of old sludge age.

Take a look at how this plant went from having a #foam issue to being foam-free!
Learn how you can remove foam in your #wastewatertreatment plant, and treat the underlying cause using Aquafix foam control products.

Cyanobacteria blooms in wastewater lagoons can be caused by the bacteria Oscillatoria and Spirulina both seen in this video. They are both filamentous #cyanobacteria that can form mats in your #wastewater lagoons.

In this video, you can see a rotifer moving between colonies of Microcystis. Rotifers are microscopic aquatic invertebrates that are common in freshwater. Microcystis is a common cyanobacterium that forms colonies and can control its buoyancy to form a surface bloom. Microcystis has the ability to release cyanotoxins such as microcystins.

In this video you have a flagellate, you can also see its hair-like tail (flagellum) wiggling around. This protozoan is typically found in wastewater conditions with high BOD and high suspended solids. #BugmanTV #flagellate

Naked Amoeba
In this video, you have a naked amoeba. They produce waves of cytoplasmic movement as their gut contents flow. This is referred to as pseudopodia or “false feet” movement. As the amoeba moves, their cytoplasm changes from a fluid state to a solid-state and then back to a fluid state. #BugmanTV #amoeba
