Looking for a new way to stay organized and create clear expectations with clients? Check out our new Postpartum Care Notepads, now available on Amazon!

Start each shift by checking in with your client to learn what their priorities are for themselves and for their infant.

During the shift, record your care on the provided timeline, and review the priorities to make sure that everyone is taken care of to the best of your abilities.

Finish your shift by writing a personalized summary to highlight anything special that occurred or note any follow-ups that need to happen.

Before your leave, take a photo of your notes for your records and leave the hard copy behind for your client.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Did you know..."As many as 1 in 7 moms (1 in 10 dads) experience symptoms of depression and anxiety during the postpartum period." (Postpartum Support International).

If you know someone who recently had a baby (within the past year), please check on them to see how they are doing. When visiting new parents, here are a few tips:

-Offer to bring a meal, snack, or even just coffee. They have a lot going on and should not be "hosting" visitors.
-When you ask how they are doing, just listen - even if there are moments of silence try to just wait for them to share more, rather than jumping in with your own thoughts.
-Help to normalize what they are going through.
-Unless directly asked, don't offer advice. They may just need a safe place to talk through their experience and ideas in order to make their own decisions.
