We are thrilled to announce that the Callidora family has a new member! Congratulations to Christian and Adelle on their beautiful wedding. Due to the extensive planning and celebrations of a wedding, we will not be hosting our annual Independence Day celebration at the ranch this year. We look forward to celebrating with everyone next year.

Turns on the forehand and pivots on the hindquarters. Backs well and responds quickly to body language and seat stops. Walk/trot/lope.
Very sporty and interested in cattle.
She needs improvement in desensitization and is looking for a new loving home!

Learning the basics of ground work & join-up is something anyone can do!

“Join-up” is a term attributed to Monty Roberts. He describes it as, “that moment when the horse decides that it is better to be with the person than to go away.”
Joining-up as a training technique takes place in a round pen. Here, the trainer sends the horse around the pen until he shows signs of relaxation & respect such as turning of the ear, lowering of the head, & licking/chewing. The goal of join-up is the establishment of respect between horse & trainer. The concept of join-up is predicated on the utilization of the fight/flight nature and instinctual body language of the horse. With this technique, respect is established creating a gateway to further training where horse & horseman is in sync. In the words of Roberts, “A good trainer can get a horse to do almost anything. The great trainer can cause the horse to want to do it.”
