Oak Grove Cabin Rental Walnut Grove Cabin Rentals are located in the rolling hills of Southern Illinois in the Shawnee National Forest.

Redbud and Dogwood Cabin are both nearly identical and were constructed in 2013. They are located on 10 private acres that directly boarders the Shawnee National Forest land to the South and West of the property. Each cabin is private from one another and tucked back into the woods on a wooded ridge overlooking thousands of acres of pristine forest. The cabins are both one bedroom with king size b

ed, one bathroom, living area with gas fireplace, full kitchen with full size appliances, and a private large deck with a full size hot tub and gas grill to be enjoyed year round. The cabins are perfect for a romantic wine trail getaway since they are located right in the middle of the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail which features 12 unique wineries. The Southern Illinois area also provides countless areas for hiking including the River to River and Cedar Lake Trail System that are within walking distance from the cabins. The Shawnee Forest area also has many other activities to enjoy like horseback riding, rock climbing, zip lining, bicycling, boating, swimming, antiquing, art galleries, a pottery trail, scenic views and much more. Relax in a private cabin and explore the area or just hide out in the woods for a relaxing getaway to nature!

Trail Ride Thursday🐎

At Giant City Stables, we offer a scenic 3.2-mile guided trail ride through the stunning Giant City State Park.

The ride lasts about an hour and runs every day except Tuesday. Available times are 9 AM, 11 AM, and 1 PM. Come experience the beauty of nature from the saddle!

Just an fyi, rattle the bottoms is not this Sunday but the following Sunday the 29th, I was wrong on an earlier post there is an admission fee of $5. However this covers a day of free music and fun by all. The event also includes a silent auction, great raffles, great t-shirts, kids events, and of course cold beer! See you there!

Our Park Naturalist and Conservation Education Representative just finished hanging the signs on the 12 mile Red Cedar Trail today. What a fun trail with surprises around every corner! Please keep in mind that the Red Cedar Trail is not an easy trail. It's a rugged backpacking trail that is a little overgrown in some spots and takes about seven hours to complete. There are ticks and mosquitos; hikers should take plenty of water and wear hiking boots.
