There are also various organic fruit trees with Mango, Papaya, Guava, Strawberry Guava, Tangerines, Oranges and Passion fruit vines for your morning smoothies. We have water for the deer so each evening and early morning you may even be quiet enough to get close to them. There are at least 15 love birds that visit our feeder along with finch, sparrow, and two species of cardinals, to name a few. If you enjoy bird watching, this is a good spot for that too. In fact, Uuku & Pua, hand raised love birds who fly freely in our gardens, may even stop by to say 'aloha'. If you’re lucky, there’ll be a bit of whale activity to watch from the lanai! (We have binoculars, but you may want to bring your own.) Many house guest have called this 'Heaven on Earth' and we are so grateful to be here on Maui No Ka Oi. We, (MauiJOY and staff) invite you to spend your time with us to relax, rejuvenate, and enjoy our sanctuary.

An undisputed holder of knowledge and link to ancient chants, hula, and traditional Hawaiian culture, ʻIolani Luahine lived a life devoted to hula kahiko.

It is said that when ʻIolani danced one could feel her connection with nature; she conveyed a mystical connection to the spiritual world. Channeling thousands of years of dancing ancestors, dancing for the gods and the gods dancing through her, she was more than just a kumu hula, more than a performer. She was a storyteller and a treasured physical embodiment of a bridge to the past.

World Surf League

Our world changes when the Whales arrive in Maui waters. There is anticipation of that first sighting and every one after that. These magnificent teachers arrive usually in December and stay here into April. They give birth, find mates and spend their winters away from Alaskan waters where they will return to feed through the summer and fall...only four months or so and they will be back...can hardly wait!
