Come check our guided hikes and learn about the rich history of Saddlerock Ranch and go home with some delicious wine. Join us on one of our many Malibu Wine Hikes. For a private group, gather between five and twelve people. Reach out and we can coordinate weekday or weekend hikes. We also offer open hikes if you’d like to come on your own or with a couple of friends. They are on Saturdays and Sun
days at 10:30AM and 3:30PM . The hikes are easy to moderate in difficulty. You’ll get a work out, but the breeze will have you ready to enjoy the wine tasting after your hike in style. Through the course of the two-mile hike we’ll get your heart rate going all while learning interesting history about the vineyard, the exotic animals on the property, and this intriguing family run ranch. The 1100 acre Saddlerock Ranch is home to our famous giraffe Stanley, camels, zebras, llamas, alpacas, water buffalo and even more four legged creatures. The ranch also has the largest, and best-preserved archeological site of the Chumash Indian pictographs in the Santa Monica Mountains. It’s called The Cave of the Four Horsemen, and dates back to the 1700’s. We are excited to share the ranch is in the process of building a sizable organic garden where we’ll soon host farm-to-table events. Each hike ends with a complimentary wine tasting, that you are welcome to enjoy as you learn more about the family’s private vineyard and locally sourced wines. The property has 90 acres devoted to viticulture while growing more than eight different varietals of grapes, including Cabernet, Merlot, Syrah, Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, and Mouvedre. The tasting is accompanied by live music on the weekends. If you’ve worked up an appetite you’re invited to bring a picnic (with non-alcoholic beverages only) or pre-order a cheese and cracker basket. There is a food truck on site on weekends. Stay awhile and enjoy the rustic elegance on the lawn with barrel tables and a farm-house feel. There’s a whimsical ambiance to feast the eyes with sculptures and various art installations. Enjoy the scenic property and make memories in our hidden gem nestled in the Malibu hills.
